4Runner Newbie - Needs Advice

After my Volvo/BMW Mechanic told me not to go with either of their SUVs and to, more or less, get a 4Runner - I am considering taking his advice and going with this:

I just kind of want to know if I'm getting a decent deal...it looks like there's some dulling on the hood but I can take care of that for $300 - I'm far more concerned with the engine.

Beyond that, I'm about to move out to CO from FL to Peterson AFB and I want something that can handle a little snow and ice.

Get a good set of rubber under it and that thing will definitely handle the snow and ice that occasionally pop up here (and disappear almost as fast). Welcome to CO...the only place that rivals Florida with an average of 300 days of pure sunshine every year. Once you acclimate to the elevation, I have a feeling you'll fall in love just like the rest of us. Obviously, you'll want to have someone look that 4Runner over (unless you're a mechanic...don't want to assume anything). But, that seems like a good deal to me. With proper maintenance, most runners can be handed down to the kids.

So I ended up getting the 4Runner and that was a fantastic decision. My only issue is that it didn't come with a whole lot of maintenance records and I'm thinking it would be wise to go ahead and change the timing belt.

Welcome to the forum! Whats your AFSC? I've been a 2W071 (Ammo) for a little over 12 years. Seems like we have several active members on here in the AF stationed in Colorado. I'd rather be there than Utah.

Have you looked up the VIN on toyota.com? Once registered you can look up any maintenance records performed at a dealership. Worth a try.
