4Runner Prices

Philly, if the Limited's are so good, why did you try to turn yours into a Trail with new bumpers and a locker?

Just to confuse the Toyota service department. I had it in last week for the 'free' oil change and the guy kept arguing with me that it was a trail. I had to show him inside to prove it was a LTD. He just smiled and said, well, at least its not a SR_ (I made that last part up) :D

I am not bagging on you at all but when I first read your post I was like whoooaa good price then I saw that it was 2WD? I'm not quite sure but to me that seems expensive I got my 2012 albeit with not that many options (door edge guards, etched windows, Toyota rubber mats throughout including the rear.) for $40,750 and mine is 4WD. Sounds like you got a nice truck though and I bet you love it.

I don't really need a 4WD living in Dallas and I don't offroad so that's why I opted for the 2WD. The diff btw our prices, yours being $1400 higher is mainly the diff btw 2W vs 4W - it's quoted above on the MSRP at about $2K. The options I got may be priced differently here in the Gulf States Region than in Vegas, so that may also be part of the difference. The other dealers here in DFW were all about $500 or more higher than my price. I didn't look out of state. Without the options noted, it would have been right at $37K, so the options added about $2200. Also the Blizzard Pearl is an extra cost, as I think your Shoreline Blue is.

I got everything I wanted, in the color/interior that I wanted, so I'm very happy with it...AWESOME vehicle!

Trail owners - For those who have special ordered or bought where there was only 1 available, how did this affect your ability to get a price below MSRP? I can see where they would be willing to deal on SR5s and Limiteds, but less so for Trails. I have yet to find one on a lot in/around Nashville. Thanks.

Purchasing Info from my build thread:

December 26, 2012 - Delivery Day

I bought my 2011 4Runner SR5 4x4 Magnetic Gray one with only power seats (PE), carpet mats (CF), premium security system (S6), vehicle shield package (P2).

Read on for details:

My number one goal was to purchase the most stripped down SR5 4x4 that I could find - accomplished.

1st T4R was coming from Landers in AR - had a bolt on accessories I didn't want cancel that one.

2nd T4R was coming from Don McGill in Houston - semi drivers forgot to tighten it down and it rolled off the top row of the semi.

3rd T4R is now coming from San Antonio and is Magnetic Grey SR5 4x4. - lets see if it actually makes it!

Alright it made it here to Bob Howard Toyota in OKC. And i took delivery of it on 12/26/11 - 16 days after the deal was made.

Here is all the finance details.

Sticker is 34,412 and I paid $31,839 + 199.50 doc fee + $534 extended warranty / free paint-less dent repair.

Out the door price of $32,572.50 ($500 cheaper than any other dealer within a 5 state region and they didn't include anything other than the 4Runner - no warranty or anything)

Got a 72 month/ 100K mile extended warranty + 5 year unlimited paint-less dent repair for $534 (price started at almost $3500, this is where my hard headed haggling skills came into play, especially the loud laughter at $934 for tire road hazard warranty - when I explained i could by 6 new tires for that cost they started moving)

I was offered 2.9% @ 60 months and 3.59% @ 72 months. - after some negotiations I then ended up taking 2.39% @ 72 months. (I've never had a loan last more than 14 months - but with twins here in February I wanted to be careful and have some margin - I'm sure it will be taken care of by spring/summer of 2013)

I just purchased a 2012 LE 4x4 in Silver on Saturday.

It has:
Third row seat,
Entune,
Cross Bars,
Retracting running boards(short wife) :)
Carpet Mats

MSRP $44,715
Invoice $40,989
Paid $40,289.

I bought this for my wife, (upgraded from accord) and so far we both love it.

That was OTD with doc fees, etc (not including tax and licensing). Bay33saw--I love the blue color! (no one near me had one), but I settled for Silver (which I still really like).

I started by e-mailing every dealer within 2 hours and working on their prices by phone, then I took the best to my local dealer and got it done. I knew I had them when their customer service guy told me no one buys 4runners from them (what a stupid thing to say). I figured they were desperate to get some off the lot.

Their customer service guy was showing me all the features (and was giving me all kinds of incorrect information). I jokingly asked him how to put the Limited into 2wd. He sat there for a minute and said, "isn't it always in 2wd? LOL. Yeah, I'm a jerk, but I had a fun time with it. That's when he said they don't sell any 4runners (excuse for why he didn't know anything about them).

The doc guy tried to sell me a maintenance package for $1500 (through 50k miles). I told him I do my own maintenance (I'll let Toyota do the two year free thing) and he told me the 4runners are designed so only the dealer c can perform maintenance...LOL--I wanted to ***** slap him.

He also tried to sell me the 7r/75k warranty for $2200 and I laughed at him. He dropped to $1350 and I said no go. He essentially said I was stupid for not buying the warranty. He said of the other six vehicles he sold that day, six people bought warranties. He said I must know something they didn't. He essentially assured me the 4runner would have major problems.

I said if Toyota quality was that poor, maybe I needed to take another look at the Honda Pilot (I hadn't signed any paperwork yet...Haha, that changed his tune).

I'll probably buy the extended warranty, but no way was I paying that. I know a few dealers that sell them through toyotanation much cheaper.

When I showed the salesman the e-mail I had from another dealer offering any 4runner in stock at $700 below invoice, he said the dealership needed to make $, he needed a commission, etc., I told him it wasn't my problem, they could either match the offer or I was going to walk. It took me 5 hours to get the deal done and out the door. What a long freaking day.

If anyone is interested, Momentum Toyota in Fairfield was the original dealer to offer me any 4runner on the lot for $700 below invoice (two hour drive from my house). I am not going to name the dealer I purchased from, because even though I got the price I wanted, I didn't like the way I was treated...

I got my 12 LE with toyota mats throughout, etched security windows, color coded door edge guards, nav, blah blah blah all the other stuff that comes with the LE for $40,750 OTD including all the taxes, doc fees and I got a 90 day temp tag.

I did it all over the internet too, first time I walked into the dealership I walked straight into the finace office and was out the door in 45 mins. Good to hear you had a painless experiance too.

Oh to live in Nevada (The land of no sales tax) I think I paid $3300 in taxes.

I was happy at $700 invoice. I could have saved $$$ by buying a model without the auto running boards (about $1350 extra), but my wife really liked them.

I wouldn't say it was a painless experience, the only thing I was happy about was the price.

I actually bought it in AZ, no dealers in NV would even talk discount, the tax in AZ was 0.9% more but I saved so much on the car it didn't matter, Oh and we do have state tax in NV 8.0% but no federal tax.

I just got my TE here in Minneapolis where there are basically none. You should still be able to negotiate. I basically paid invoice for mine. Make sure you find a dealer who is going to work on getting the vehicle for you. I originally preference ordered mine and after not hearing anything for over two months I talked to another dealer who was able to acquire one that was in port from another dealer.
