4runner TRD Pro

I think I'm going to start with the badging and then a TRD key chain. Then it'll be official!

Unless they have an 18" TRD wheel option, then I'd be all over those too! (I know this will never be an option... Just putting it out there in case someone at Toyota/TRD is reading this) :) :) :)

me ranting...I personally think that buying badging for a vehicle that wasn't spec'd as the model from the factory is a poser... it's like a bmwfanboy putting the "M" badging on his 335, or a guy putting the coveted "V" badge on his regular CTS... he sure as shit doesn't have a supercharged v8 under the hood!

granted most guys on here that would buy the TRD Pro badging probably have more mods and can probably handle the off road better than the proposed TRD Pro Package... but I still think its stupid to put them on, reminds me of people who buy those lame ass autozone fake fender vents... rant over

The additional mpg and hp those fender vents add is grossly underrated imo. The chrome ones alone help nighttime visibility and drag race intimidation by an exponential factor.

Dang. You just compared rebadging a vehicle to putting on fake fender vents. Haha. I love seeing those fake fender vents... They make me laugh.

If the Pro has a supercharger and a trunk monkey, I probably won't do it. But if its just some badging and upgraded shocks/wheels etc I don't really care that I'm stealing the badge because I personally think my truck is modded to be better then that anyway. I do agree with you though, people who rebadge to impersonate a better car is annoying - e.g. M3 badges on a 3 series or RS5 badges on an A5. But if your car is modded to be better then that already, I don't have a problem there.

Also I'm lazy and don't feel like plastidipping my Limited badge, I like the pro one since it's already black.

remember the kid who got a "RANGER" tattoo before even going through Ranger School.....I'm sure RIP was fun for that guy.

I put the TE badges on my VERY Modded 4th gen......does that make me a poser?

While I personally prefer a little more low key, understated look. I rather sail in pirate waters in a boat that 'looks' like a pirate ship than in a yacht.

I actually really dig it when someone badges in a small inconspicuous way, like a small TRD badge emblem/sticker in none of the usual locations. It is much more intelligent and much less chest puffy LOL :thumb3:

Where is the "REAPER" graphic! ROTFLMAO

TE Badges??? haven't ever seen them... TMK, they don't exist as a factory badge at least for the 5th Gen, but if in fact they are real, and you put them on a non TE, then YES, you are a poser!

As for a kid who was stupid enough to get a tab tattooed on him before he earned it... :gun5: he wouldn't have ever made it through RIP week alive, let alone his first week in Regiment... I guarantee a Team or Squad leader would take his ass to the nearest tattoo parlor and have it changed into a bouquet of flowers

Awww....yes, the bravado of the young.

But I digress. I was there on Fort Bragg when a young private jumped without having completed Jump School. Fun times.

I guess that makes me a poser, even though my vehicle was actually built and used for the trail unlike the 2009 Trail Edition 4Runner.

Badges are 100% OEM Toyota badges.

I have a hybrid emblem on my 2013 SR5 also....but that's just for better gas mileage. My 2010 TE has no extra badges...YET

We all have "moments" I broke my wrist doing a slack jump at Fort Lewis WA...And then later broke my ankle on a 300 foot rappel.

So if one were to put a 09' "Trail Edition" badge on a 10'+ TE (that does not come with it from the factory), would that make them a poser too?

Personally, I wouldn't be so quick to judge someone else's personal taste since realistically all most everyone can be seen as a poser to some extent :)

lol. WAR STORY TIME! :) - BTW....I saw your for sale (sold) ad yesterday and it made me realize how much I missed my 2008 V8 Sport Edition...so much so that I'm searching for another one all this morning.

back to WAR STORIES though...

Jump #10 - Broken #2-4 metarsals left foot, cracked right heal. Rhine Luzon DZ. Stupid fat kid from COSCOM cut me off. :gun5:

Personally, I'll say whatever I want, zero ****s given... I made a statement and the trolls that take offense come out of the woodwork and take the thread in the wrong direction... enough about god damn badging posers... back to TRD Pro...

I want to talk more army stuff

If it's like any TuRD package offered in the last 20 years or so, it will offer

-TuRD decals ($2000 MSRP)
-Bilstein shocks (the same that come with the regular 4Runner, but these are YELLOW!, $1500 MSRP)
-limited edition TuRD wheels ($450 apiece)
-BFG TA/KO's ($500 per tire)
-TuRD shift knobs ($300 each)
-TuRD air filter for a 0.5 hp horsepower increase ($200 MSRP)

Toyota will build a limited edition run of 500 and dealers will mark them up an additional 2k, where they will sit on the showroom floor, gathering dust.

Toyota has a huge problem that none of its "performance" packages offer anything more than window dressing of fancy parts but no more horsepower or off-road-worthiness, just look at all the "Trail Teams" FJ Cruisers that were nothing more than fancy paint jobs and wheels.
