They have had the TRD supercharger on the 4.0 for a long time...I know this will get flamed, but spoke with a service rep yesterday while getting my truck serviced.
He just interviewed last week for an in-company promotion and went up to Torrance, CA and got to check out the new technology Toyota is playing around with.
He 100% confirmed both a TRD supercharger for 4.0 and 5.7 are on vehicles driving around the area and will be available soon.

It's past experience. TRD has been promising and missing its release dates for a long time, now.I'm not really sure why, but some people seem to be actively rooting against a supercharger. At a minimum, the pessimistic view is a popular one.
