4runner TRD Pro

Motor, motor, oh yea and the motor! A V8 would be the only thing that would make me change the trail I currently have ordered.
Thanks in advance!!

I'll make a bold prediction that you won't be changing what you currently have ordered.

What if they just made a 2014 TE look all fancy then they are actually hiding the real trd pro... the whole thing is a COVERUPPP :O

Supposedly this image is from the Chicago Auto Show floor ...

But it could also be the same pic from the FJ from 2012

Nice...but no way does this come with that brake setup and rotors...don't see that happening at all.

I think for the most optimistic of the group you'll be looking at a V8 at best but more likely some badging/front skid plate/decals/shifter knob/special paint/wheels/re-badged coilovers/TRD intake (lol - there's your HP increase)...

The V8 in the '14 GX is super nice and fits easily in basically the same engine bay (I took everything off covering the engine the other night to compare side-to-side to the T4R)...move some stuff around and you have the same room you see today in the T4R for a dual battery/on-board air and additional fuse box...

Yeah, just sit tight for like 12 more hours and all shall be revealed :reddance:

These little teases are getting out of hand at this point, you can basically stitch together all the individual shots and visualize the whole exterior of the truck, lol.

All I've got to say is Toyota better be hiding something real epic under the hood or else the only thing epic about this big reveal is the epic fail :smashputer:

Man, a lot of people are going to be disappointed when this thing comes out. Absolutely no way I can see it having a V8 and very little chance of a SC. It'll probably have the wheels, maybe upgraded suspension and brakes, aluminum front skid, maybe rock rails, and the rest will just be bling. I see it more as being like a 4Runner version of the FJC TT. Can't get around those CAFE regulations...

I bet if we let this thread go on for a few more days we will be hearing reports of:
Diesel
6 speed manual transmission
Lifted 4"
35" tires
Roll Cage
LED lights
5 point harness

All for just $25,000 Canadian.

Agreed, it just doesn't make business sense to re-engineer an entire car and its engine for one bright orange special edition.

At most, they might say "this one has an attached optional supercharger". That probably won't happen though, 4Runner doesn't sell enough to justify it and FJ is dead.

A special edition supercharged 4Runner won't impact CAFE in any meaningful way. Too low of volume to matter. Getting it federalized as a factory option is a whole different matter, though. They've either done the legwork to get this approved as a factory option or the S/C will be sold as a dealer installed option (and not an official part of this package).

That exhaust video sure doesn't sound remotely stock. It definitely makes me think there is something brewing.

With regards to more power, I expect 4R TRD to be rated (marketed) with an extra 10-15 additional HP by modification to something outside of the engine.

^^^this! And, I think they will use the show-car as a way to showcase the SC, which will be dealer-installed.
