4runner TRD Pro

My dealer gave me a copy of a parts list that says $699 for the remote start (part number PT398-89140). That sounded high so it might have been an aftermarket item. I also thought I read on Toyota's site that it's $500 for that add.

Quick edit: It is $499 per Toyota's site:

Remote Engine Starter34
Step into the comfort of a pre-cooled or pre-heated cabin, thanks to the remote engine starter.
• Activates air conditioner, heater, defroster and defogger functions to preset temperatures and settings
• Engine starts with quick, three-step sequence using keyless factory remote
• Integrates with keyless entry system and existing factory security

Available only for vehicles equipped with factory remote keyless entry and Smart Key.

$499 msrp

Having items pre installed at the port is cheaper than ordering them later and having the dealer install them. The $499 is the port install

There is currently a thread on themCompusta remote start. Here is the breakdown that I have seen.

Factory:
Remtoes start using factory remote (limited distance by remote)
Runs 10 minutes
Shuts off when door opens on keyed models
Runs ac heatre defrot etc on presets

Compustar Units:
Remote Start integrates with factory alarm, upgradable, modules
Remote range starts at 1000ft, upgradable to use factory remote, or long range remotes, module to use cell phone to control, vehocle, note there is a small monthly fee to do this, also upgradable to monitor vehicles location speed etc, great for teens or,paranoid spouses!
Can add outside keypad
Module to unlock vehicle, with RFID touch, ess you walk up to vehicle it unlocks
Other modules for alarm functions etc. I like being able to roll down the rear window for the dogs and other such functions.
Vehicle runs to preset time, does notmshut off when door is opej most shutoff when brakemis delressed without key in ignition.

Cost is the bigest factor. Nite this is just remote start
Factory is $399+
Aftermarket is $99+

I hope this gives you a bettre idea what is out there. I Was asked yesterday if I wanted any port accessories on my buikd since it is on the ship here. At first I was thinking of the remote start being installed there. But decided to go with the module upgradable units with compustar, you can use others. As i can add extras like cell phone useage, run it for how long I want or until a certain temperature, being able to just stikck key in ignition and go without having to restart the vehicle, beong able to roll down the rear window, etc..

Excellent tip on the ARB kit. I have done the home brew diff breather mod on several vehicles in the past. This time I think I am going to try this ARB kit. It is a bit more expensive than the home brew solution but I think it is work the try. Either way it is cheap insurance.

THANKS FOR THIS, so is the front and center diff already vented up high or do those need to be done also?
Yes, the front diff and transfer case are vented up on the engine firewall.

note the e-locker only has a one-way breather like the rear diff. even though it's mounted a bit higher (on the crossmember just above and aft of the rear axle) might as well take care of that too while you're back/down there.

444 - is that something u just asked them to do for you?

Mine is scheduled to arrive in port tomorrow and if this is an option, i'll ask the dealership to do it as well.

I talked with my sales guy and explained what others have mentioned. I also emailed him links and screen shots of the posts where they show the shop notes from the dealerships.

They are going to have to check them anyways when I get there so I just figured they might as well take the time to fix it now so I don't have to dink around with them when I pick it up.

I will still do a complete test drive and try and reproduce the clunk. It's going to be about 30 degrees on Monday so I'm sure I'll be able to reproduce it if they didn't fix it.

444- I checked out your ride last night. Although it was getting dark, the color is pretty sweet. Much more orange than I thought. I checked and the front bumper/fender is trimmed off. The sales guy was well aware of all the TRD pro issues going on. Enjoy one of the only Inferno 4runners in the twin cities!

I forgot to note when I picked mine up that my fenders were trimmed, too. And that the orange is definitely ORANGE and it changes in the light as we've seen in the pics here. No clunk yet, but my garage is partially heated.

Thanks brother!

More orange the better!

Maybe I'll act really upset about the cut fender/bumper and see if I can get a few extra oil changes out of them or something.

Just joined the orange club.
