Are you getting the diamond plate option?



Do you know the specs on how far they bump out?



They look as if they will work pretty well as a step. What are your thoughts?

I went dimpled tread plates (what site calls em) with textured finish. Wanted more of a matte finish, so went textured.

Washed and waxed for the winter, I finally got the TRDP out for some photos by Lake Michigan. I'm taking it cross-country to Colorado and Wyoming next week, so I'll be able to post some photos of it in the wild, vs. the urban environment of Chicago...

So I just went through my first tank of gas and calculated my mileage.

I went mixed hwy/city and the temps here have been mild between 20-35 all week.

I ended up getting 18.2. I think that's pretty good for the first tank. It should get better as temps warm up and it breaks in. One caveat...I did not use it at all in 4WD.

Not bad at all. I've put about 700 miles on my truck over the past two weeks. A fair amount has been in 4hi and some in 4lo. Overall I've averaged 16mpg. Better than I thought I'd have gotten being unbroken in.

My mileage blows. There is about a 2 gallon difference from 70 mpg to 75 mpg. I find that very odd compared to my limited. I have almost 4K on it currently. I took pictures, will post up later.

Hey guys, I posted a page or so back about anyone knowing anything about these running boards I purchased. Black Crushed Oval Step Boards, Part #: 00016-89013. Anyway, I purchased them on eBay and installed them today. I am by no means a mechanic but it was an easy install. It took me about an hour but that's probably because I didn't have any power tools. Anyway, they look great and I'm very impressed with them and thought you guys might be interested in how they look. They are metal and feel very solid... I'm liking them a lot. :biggrin1:

I've been trying to get accustomed to driving my TRD Pro in a variety of conditions, learning what it can safely do. I'm getting used to things like accelerator pressure, turning radius, approach angles, gear selection, tire pressure variation, vision, driving support systems, etc.. I concentrate on developing my off-road driving skills and geomorphological acumen, rather than focusing on modifications. There's probably a surprising amount of untapped potential in the stock TE and TRDP.

After I took this shot, I got to plow through some decent drifts. I love it!

My dog came along for the ride. His coat and leash sort-of matching the InfernoTRD is purely a coincidence!

On the topic of snow, with our Nitto tires, are there any considerations for chain sizes? I'd like to get some with icebreakers, etc., for the rears in case I run into areas with chain laws in effect... I don't want cables. Any suggestions?

Thules, i have some in the garage too will look they are chains worked really well on my X5 in Colorado.

Geomorphological acumen. I like that! Just be careful with the bathymetrics, lol.

Drove from VA to my hometown in MI, really got to enjoy the road trip. We had a blizzard here so finally got some 4wd action in and beat my truck up on some branches and snow drifts. Loving my 4runner more every day!

Took my white one on Greasy Spoon in Sedona today. Seamless traction and wonderful ride. My wife and I were completely alone, no one around. It was awesome.

Nittos in snow... are you asking about offroad snow or on road snow?

I'm quite happy with their snow performance so far on roads, snow covered, or ice and snow covered.

My FJ had and my tundra has Duractracs, which I love. I did not feel like these were any worse than the Duractracs on the road. I suspect they wouldn't perform as well offroad because they don't have as much void but only have real time on the road and so far I'm surprised with how much I like them.

I'm only 400 miles into them, maybe 80 snow, so it is still a limited experience.

I'm very pleased with the Nittos snow performance, both on and off road. I'm only 1000 mi into the truck, but so far they have been outstanding even in deep snow

I felt like they were pretty communicative, stopped well, turned well, etc. on-road on packed snow, slush and unpacked/drifts. They aren't quote like dedicated snow tires, but they do the trick.

That said, I am interested in these Thule XG-12 Pro chains with icebreakers, but I'm not entirely sure they will fit the Nittos. Does anyone have input on chain fit and more aggressive tires like ours?

UPDATED (2/2/15): I ordered the Thule XG-12 Pro chains and will test fit when they come in on Wednesday the 4th.
