4runner TRD Pro

I actually had the same complaint in 2011 with my '10 4Runner. It took about three days before my brain just tuned it out lol. Seriously though, do the test I outlined above if for nothing else to be prepared for it in real life. When that first deer ran out in front of me and I smacked the brakes I stopped. NOW. It is a bit unsettling until you get used to it and my son sitting in the passenger seat looked at me like "WTF?". It is one of the best braking systems I have ever used. The squish? Yeah, they could have put a sound panel around the orifice and valve but hey, nothing's perfect.

The brake assist comes in based on speed of actuation, not force of actuation. This means you can push as hard as you want on the brakes and if you do it in regular speed you will not engage the brake assist. Now if you hit them quick, like in a panic situation? You barely have to depress the brakes (but really fast) and the assist will kick in. Try it.

I've tried it. I agree. The braking system is amazing. The whole truck is amazing. I had a lot of friends giving me sh*t for spending this amount of money on a new truck instead of getting a pre-owned X5 or something like that.

For people who have never owned 4runners and for people who dont actually USE their trucks, they dont understand how amazing this truck is.

I feel really lucky to have one. I will be annoyed in 2016 if they add the sunroof and side view blinkers, but oh well. I feel like this will REALLY hold its value (especially if left unmodified) and will one day be a collector's item.

I've just never seen such an aggressive looking SUV as this is. Apart from a defender90.

What do you think of the deal i got?

That's the thing about deals - If you are happy with it then that is all that matters. The fairest deals are when both sides leave the table unhappy lol.

It will hold it's value well, especially is stock form. Probably a bit better than the SR5 but you have to remember that the 4Runner, in any trim, holds it's residual value after three years better than just about anything else.

I can't tell you if there will be puddle lights and a sunroof in the next TRD Pro but I can tell you there will be new colors...

Is there definitely going to be a 2016 TRD Pro? If so, any idea if Inferno is returning?

As far as I know yes it is returning and the Inferno color is dropped for the time being. I could be wrong but I don't think so. There are two new colors for the Pro.

Any idea what the two new colors will be?

I'm scheduled to test drive (have a deposit down) a Super White one tomorrow. I also have a deposit down on an Inferno due in at another dealer end of June. I like both the colors,...undecided. I figured I'd go see a white one in person and do the test drive. If it doesn't wow me,..get my deposit back and wait for the Inferno to arrive.

I really wanted the inferno color :)

but was not willing to pay for the pro side of things since I know I will change things to much but IMHO go for the inferno they may or may not make it again ? and its a cool color :)

my TE is white so like the color but love the inferno :)

if new colors come out hope they are fun and unique and the inferno stays a 1 year and the other colors are a 1 year only so the pro folks have some fun unique things

while the yellow FJ I had was common in some senses it became less common and was easy for my friends to spot me around :) hahahahaha

I had a killer FJ Cruiser bought from right under me that was a battleship gray. Looked awesome with black components and wheels. I am thinking that would look pretty sweet as a 4runner TRD.

TRD Wheels

what is everyone cleaning there black TRD wheels with? I always wash the wheels when they are cool and always have water spots, plus the break dust tends to really stick. Suggestions?

These brakes scared the living daylights out of me on the Dallas North Tollroad when texting drivers swerved into my lane and I was doing about 80 mph...these brakes will pull the stripes off the road.

Had an Inferno on hold but chickened out. That color looks great but it's a bit much for me -- I ended up going for an Attitude Black one. Picked it up this past Friday. Got a really good trade for my 2011 LE. Really loving it -- differences I notice drive-wise when compared to my LE -- Steering feels tighter which I really like. Definitely more sure footed, feels more stuck to the road,...I'm sure that's the tires. Brakes are more responsive/touchy and it nose dives just a bit,...but not bad at all.

Overall my buying experience was very good but one thing tilted me and I didn't notice it til after I got home. When I picked it up it was overcast,...looked great there. Sun came out on the way home and after I got there in the direct sunlight from certain angles you can see some light scratches/swirl marks on the paint in a few areas. Dealer prep wash did it. I went back the next day and made them take $300 off the price. Taking it to a really good local detailer to get it corrected - he said it won't be a problem and will look amazing. Might get the Cquartz done on it as well. Only pic I have -- I'll post others after it's detailed. Its an awesome truck for sure.

Installed TE roof rails and cross bars today. Had gone round and round with what I wanted to do - paint the originals, new roof rack, but glad with how my final decision turned out.

Battleship Grey?

Was it painted that color because Toyota never made one in Battleship Grey.

They made a 2013 FJ TTSE in "Cement Grey" as pictured....ask me how I know!

It was some sort of custom job. Completed loaded FJ with metal front and back bumpers and a 3 inch lift. It was a shade lighter than that and they were asking 50K.

OMG, they must have really liked it for 50K!
No photos?

Wish I had. There was a link to it on the dealer site, but they took it down after it was sold. It had TRD wheels, 3 inch lift, medal bumpers (gray), winch in front ... They had it for almost a year and I thought I could talk them down quite a bit. When I started the process, someone bought it for list. Crazy!

It was the coolest FJ I have seen.
