4runner TRD Pro

Haha, I offered $34,000 for it thru eBay to see what would happen.

I got an email from the dealer - MSRP was 43,359 and they want 41,359 plus freight and a 300 process charge.

That freight is probably the $900 that is on every Toyota.

Seems like a very odd way to do business.

Also called another dealership in Arkansas with one listed for 3k off msrp so it is $40k and they said it is being built and would be there in 3-4 months.

So I guess you can get one for 40 if you wanna wait that long.

I'm in San Diego and was on a wait list for 3 months before having mine delivered last week. I had no choice on options, just took what was delivered. Unfortunately it came with almost all options:

Sliding Rear Cargo deck - $350 (didn't want)
Cargo cover - $155 (didn't want)
Exhaust tip - $90 (hate)
Paint protective film - $395 (didn't want)
Remote Engine Start - $499 (don't need)
Roof Rack cross bars - $185

Plus Dealer prep $900

Base price $41,550, total MSRP $44,124.

If I didn't take it for MSRP someone else would (9 people were on the wait list after me).

So, total out the door with Ca sales tax and license was about $48K. Ouch! But, so far I love it.

If you can find one for MSRP in California I think you are doing well. In the LA area they were all asking $5K+ over MSRP when I checked late last year. Walnut Creek Toyota also had one but they were asking 6 or 7K over MSRP.

So as an update, I tried special ordering a white one from a dealer and they wanted 49k out the door! I said see you later, finally found one and they wanted 5k over Msrp so said see you later. Lastly I found a grey one with no extras and the dealer gave it to me for Msrp. 4 others were waiting as well if I didn't get it. Also they gave me a decent price on my taco trade in which was nice. Going to pick it up tomorow or the next day. Super excited after months of searching. Wish I could of gotten a white but grey I'm happy with grey. White is not worth an extra 5k to me. Also curious did anyone go for the warranties? Personally I never do and never had a problem.

I didn't get any extra warranties or anything. They offer this, they offer that. My head started to spin so I told them, look man I don't want anything extra so please stop convincing me. Thank you!

Haha exactly man that's where I was at too. I've never needed the warranties personally but every time I get a car I always think about it but never do it. The reason I ask is because ive been reading about the trd pro "clunk" issue. Does anyone here have that issue? Makes me a little nervous.

I didn't have any problem with mine. But I only had 6 days to drove mine around before I left for work. So I don't really know if it's going to be a problem later. But either way you have 3yrs/36000miles for warranty anyway.

Random purchase. 3/4 D shackles.

Yeah no problem so far for me either, I've driven over speed bumps, potholes, rough roads and pretty much anything I can find just because I can haha. Still no clunk so I think I'm in the clear. Man I'm stoked with this truck, I had only seen pics online of them and when I went to the dealer and saw mine sitting there waiting for me it was way more than what I imagined. Already planning a dune trip with it.

Well, got a call today from the salesman. Told me the original arrival date of 2/16, has been pushed back another week. Maybe next week!

Deposit was placed September 11th, 2015.

That seems crazy - is the dealer really small?

I found another quicksand in stock in Kansas and spent all day yesterday trying to work a deal over the phone but they were low-balling my trades so it was too much of a risk to drive over 8 hours to come back empty handed.

Same here on being pushed back. My dealer said it was due to the storm out east. Had another storm that delayed my port processing. I'm getting antsy.

Just got the same response from mine. She said "confirmed" delivery between 2/23-2/25.

I asked if the boat was at the port and she said yes. I will believe it when I see it.

Is there a way to negotiate the price for a TRD Pro? Local dealers all want full MSRP for their TRD Pro inventory, that makes the TRD Pros even more expensive than Limited with 3rd row :(

absolutely, walk in with your own money ready to go and not have to dick with their financing was probably the biggest help for me. it was also end of the year and they didn't want to carry it over for the new tax year so there was some timing as well

my deal went like this

me - "wow, you guys have one on the lot available? Hows that?"

them - "lots of lookers but no one with a credit score to get financing"

me - "she-it fire, i got my own money, I'll give $XX"

them - "sold"
