I believe a lot of people are missing the point here... if a manufacturer is not willing to number a vehicle (#1 of 500 for example) then it's not technically a limited production run vehicle.
Toyota explicitly states "OVER" not "Limited To" in its marketing because they knew if they attached a number to production people would misread it and feel like they were getting something special and also it provides them the flexibility to produce more than the number... so if the public wants more than 3,000 for example, you can order it and they will build it and take your money.
My guess is there's quite a lot more in circulation each year than 3,000 in the US, probably more like 10,000 or 15,000. I have no evidence to support this number other than the language of the previous post and the fact that Toyota obviously saw the sales and marketing genius of attaching the "TRD" logo to a model, which is why we now have a "TRD Offroad" model 4Runner for 2017.
If you think the TRD Pro model is the most limited produced 4Runner ever, you're only kidding yourself. This doesn't mean no one should buy it... heck, I may buy one, but I'll know what I'm buying when I do and not going to let some salesman feed me a line of BS about a vehicle I know more about than he does from every aspect.

There was one guy here claiming he was getting $2500 off and he just...disappeared.
Maybe the 4runner TRD Bros whacked him![]()
I got my 2016 for $2298 below MSRP + matching 5th wheel + cargo tray. Not too far off the $2500 number you quoted above. :eyebrows:
You need to understand that in CA he is correct. There is a lot of money here and people willing to pay. I havent seen one pro below msrp around here. A lot are marked up 3-$5k from msrp. There are 3, 2016 TRDP on craigslist posted from dealers that are arriving soon and they are $48,633 -$49628 quicksand and MGM.
While I know he is posting from CA, I did not see that particular comment as area specific. Just offering my 2 cents...
there's no need to "re-align their factories" because they're really basic Trail Editions that get the TRD Pro bits added upon arrival at port. The TRD Pros are also made in Japan so there is quite a lead time and why would they all of a sudden re-align their factories to produce 15% TRD PROs the final year?
Just found a posting for any who are looking for a white TRDP 4runner in CA. Invoice price it seems. Arriving mid September up for deposit now.
2016 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 4WD ___ TRD PRO ___WHITE __________NEW
You are right about the pa thing, I see them all time time at dealers around here... They don't stay too long but they are there. Right now I have a local dealer that is selling a 2015 with 11k on it for 45k . It does seem in my finding the used ones don't loose their value at all, ad least around here.I suppose it's a regional thing.... because dealers in PA routinely have them on the lot, up for sale... at any one time I can find one in the state that doesn't have a hold (not pre-ordered) on it and usually 2 or 3.... I just moved from Central PA and the Toyota dealer there got in 4 in 2015 and 3 so far this year before we recently moved. 2 of the 3 this year were not sold when they arrived. This isn't a high volume or big dealership, their inventory is typically below 60 total units....(not sure how this happened but I witnessed it) so yeah, maybe it's a regional thing.
Last month when I was scoping out the quicksand TRD at the dealer in central PA the salesman came out to me and offered me 1500 under msrp without before we even exchanged pleasantries... My point is that my expereince is that they're looked at as another 4Runner in this region.
I am not bashing the Pro model, heck I like it and will probably buy one (If I can't find a used LC200 I like at the same price point) but I'll be buying it under msrp and leaving it stock.

They really aren't. Trails don't have softex seats. Trail premiums have moonroofs. Neither has auto headlights. While these are not huge deals for "features," they come out of the factory with these configurations. The cosmetic and suspension stuff added at port is essentially all exterior.
point is that there's no need for Toyota to "re-align its factories" to make more of the Pro. as far as the production line in Japan is concerned, the Pro is just a specifically configured base model Trail Edition. They really aren't. you are incorrect, and that information is literally available in this very thread. read from this post and forward a few pages or so... http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/160015-4runner-trd-pro-74.html#post1793325I seriously doubt all that stuff is added at the port. That is major stuff on the TRD. That is done at the factory.
actually, i didn't say that they get painted at port at all (nice straw man), and if you read back through the thread you'll see that what goes into making a Pro (at port) is well documented.TRD pro also comes in colors the other models don't, so you saying those are painted at the port too? LOL.

however, if you're the kind of guy that's presented with facts and still insists his opinion is more correct i'm not fool enough to attempt to convince you otherwise.
