4runner TRD Pro

I wasn't aware excuse my ignorance, I thought it was a special run from factory this is why I asked. So I guess the only thing that make it is the special color

Yes. Black and white are the same tho. Tan, orange and now cement are special one year colors.

Does anyone know if the 17 TRD Pro's are designated a special Vin#? You know to defrenciate from the non TRD pro(4runners changed to represent a made into TRD PRO)

Yes, the vin will reflect that it is a PRO and not a clone. Some people have a hard on about that trim and make it sound like they pick random trail editions and make them PRO's. The special edition colors kind of make it obvious that our friends in Japan have it designated prior to leaving.

You do realize that the TRD Pro parts (suspension, wheels, mats, skid, etc) are not installed at the plant in Japan right? They are added at the port when the 4Runner arrives in the US. When the 4Runner leaves the plant it is a Trail Edition. Everything else is the same.

So the front end on a TRD Pro is a trail front end when it leaves Japan? Maybe they delete the front end in Japan and add at port in the States?

The port production operation must be pretty extensive if they are converting a Trail to a Pro.

What about the seats in the Pro? Badging? They are not launching rockets but the list of changes seems long to do all at Port.

I just assumed they manufactured the TRD Pros(finished product) in Japan.

Thats interesting they leave Japan as a regular 4runner(except Cement color) with no indication it is a TRD Pro.

So is the KDSS option installed at Port or in Japan? Dumb question I know. Japan I imagine for KDSS.

I have no idea how current this info is. John

Where will the TRD Pro Series vehicles be assembled?

"FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions for all things Toyota."

"Where will the TRD Pro Series vehicles be assembled?
The Tundra and Tacoma TRD Pro Series will be assembled exclusively at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX) facilities in San Antonio, Texas.

The 4Runner TRD Pro Series will be assembled at Toyota's Tahara Plant in Tahara, Japan."

I think the front fascia and seats are installed at the plant. Suspension, mats, skids, wheels are installed at the port on the Pro.

Kdss is at the plant for the TE only.

Many options though are port installed for the whole 4Runner line. Remote starters, running boards, roof rack cross bars, mats, etc are all port installed unless you purchase them after you buy the vehicle.

Some distributors, like Southeast, install their own wheel and grille and slider package to selected 4Runners at the port. These can be any model also.

Pulled the trigger and ordered a 17TRD Pro today. No options and MSRP. Dealer gave me an excellent Trade in on my 14TE. Ordered in Red, said 6-8 weeks...........

Was searching the entire country and just started submitting requests on Toyota website when 2017s became available. Was expecting to have to travel 1000s of miles to find my cement pro then road trip home. Just for shits and giggles submitted request to local dealer 20 miles away, they called me next day said they had one cement allocated and it was coming 1/18, no waiting list no bs. They even told me to come test drive used 2015 white Trd pro (asking only $1000 less than 2017)to make sure I liked it before placing deposit down.

Told them I would be right over. Not going to share the deal I got because I am honestly shocked and so is my salesperson, and I don't want to jinx it until it's a done deal. Needless to say I was expecting to wait months, drive hundreds of miles, deal with all the bs of the process of purchasing a new car, pay msrp or more, and stress about finding the right truck. In the end I showed up today and walked out putting down a deposit and in 10 days should be driving a new cement Trd pro! Will be nice getting back into a Toyota(driving a rubicon unlimited on 37s currently) this will be my 12th Toyota!

Should have my white TRDP by the end of week. Ill post pics as soon as I get it. Paying MSRP.

SO damn jealous. My dealer is still looking for a white one for me. They have a cement on the way there... if any of you know a dealership looking for a cement TRDP and have a white one... please let me know! I'd love to rock this in the winter!

Never pay over sticker. Try to get at-least $1500 below sticker. They will offer an Extended Warranty, I fell for it like a sucker. All he had to say was... there's 12 on-board computers, each costing like $1200+. So i took the extended.

OK, I'm thinking about ordering a '17 TRDP from a local dealer, does anyone know how long it's taking for these to arrive once ordered? Thanks in advance for helping a newbie to the site.

It's usually a special order. Go throw $500 down and ask how long will it take to arrive. Everyone has a different experience. 4 months for me.

Varies greatly. I put a deposit down 9/5/16 and was driving it 2 weeks later. I was expecting a LOT longer. I was told I may have to wait on a 2017 at the time I placed my deposit, but I was OK with that too, because cement.

It took me 2 months because they didn't have the Trail Premium I wanted and offered me the TRDP because I am a returning customer and put a good chunk down in cash. I had no idea I would even have a chance at a TRDP so it never crossed my mind to even get on a list because I don't like waiting for things. This has been well worth the wait after finding out how awesome these rigs are!
