4runner TRD Pro

Do y'all have roof racks for your TRD pros? I am about a month in waiting for mine and wondering if I should order one now so I don't have to wait. I have heard great things about the Gobi racks but don't know if I can justify $1600 on a rack... what are y'alls thoughts?

I just ordered my Gobi rack last week and was also told 8-12 weeks. Trying to decide on lighting options now.

Was told the TRD Pro will become widely available in the next couple of months . Toyota is removing production limits on it.

Without supporting documentation to back up that claim, I have to treat that as strictly make believe. However, if I'm Toyota, wouldn't it make sense to sell more higher priced TRD units vs lower priced SR5 units? It's reasonable enough to make you scratch your chin and ponder the posibility, but you know, we ARE talking about Toyota here.

Meanwhile, I continue to wait...

If you really want a versatile rack of aftermarket. If you want something to carry skis and bikes and nothing more go OEM.

I agree with this sentiment. some folks are saying the off-road premiums are tough to find below MSRP or even at all. Now I can't comment to how hard they try, but saying Toyota will be "hands off production limits" doesn't mean much until we actually see it happen.

FWIW, there are a couple of premiums in my area. I test drove one last weekend, so they're out there.

As far as pricing goes, I got a quote yesterday from a semi-local dealer via the Costco program which was about 3.8% under MSRP. While certainly better than sticker, it's nothing like what others have posted in the "what are you paying" thread.

Interesting news... maybe coincidence and because my name is out across the country but this week I was offered allocations by Three dealers. I turned down Madera Toyota and Wills Toyota in Idaho.

Sounds like a dealer has a little ploy going on imo. Put your name and deposit on a trdp because they are gonna make a ton of them maybe, and you end up driving away in an SR5 a few months later when it doesn't happen.

One big reason this makes no sense....trdp's are put together at the port. They don't come from Japan like we get them. There are only so many of these, including tundras and tacos, that can be processed in a day. There is literally a crew of guys bolting this stuff on and then doing the alignments. Did your wheels have 2 paint pen marks on the lug nuts? Mine did. That's from the guy installing them and the second guy checking torque. Stuff is put on the old fashioned way. Not automated. This takes time. Hell, mine sat at port one month waiting to be processed.

I lucked out on mine. Was actually sitting on the lot when I drove by. Did a 180 and pulled up to look at it, only ever seen one on a lot and it was sold. Anyway ol Slither comes out and says "I see your interested in the 4Runner" Sure. You want to drive it? Replied, "Its for sale???" needless to say after a quick trip around the block I traded my '16 Taco TRD Sport in on it.

Why would Toyota kill the fake demand for the TRDP? If they flood inventory prices will drop and the TRDP magic and demand will fade.

They are making thousands per unit now. Thats their game.

You can find TRDPs right now if you are willing to travel or pay for shipping. Toyota of north America is releasing just enough inventory to make it appear that every kid in America wants a overpriced Elephant poo Trail edition with a appearance package slapped on it.

My friend's sister knows this guy that dated a girl who went to school with a guy that does oil changes at a Toyota dealership, and he totally said that they're increasing production numbers of TRDPs.

you on 2/12/17........

I saw the Cement color tonight in person for the first time on a Tundra. VERY COOL COLOR!

I was surprised that this TRD Pro Tundra wasn't sold yet.

So much wrong with this post.
1. What is "fake demand?" Toyota can't control the demand for their product. They can control SUPPLY. And they keep supply tight on Pros.
2. "They are making thousands per unit." As opposed to what? Do you think their margins are that much higher on a port installed full suspension? This costs Toyota money to do. Also, they make "thousands per unit" on SR5s, limiteds and trails too.
3. The description of the TRD Pro being an appearance package is tired. I truly wish all appearance packages included a well-engineered suspension with softer springs and specific valving. Geez, for an "appearance package," you can't see a lot of what makes it a Pro.

Lastly, read a couple journalist reviews on this truck to understand how much went into the suspension. Or better yet, actually drive one and see for yourself. And then stop posting. Haha
