4runner TRD Pro

Here’s the thing about the Pro. It’s only going to be real cool, desirable, and overpriced until the next gen 4runner comes out. Then prices will come back to earth and those that overpaid are going to lose money. Lots of money in some cases.

Think about it, would you pay a premium price for a 15 Tacoma Pro right now? Probably not, you are going to want the new model. The gen 3 taco, even a lesser model is more desirable than an old previous gen Pro.

As cool as a Pro is, it’s s terrible Investment. Unless you sell while they are hot!

You would be surprised. There are lots of people that want the 15 Pro Taco. Couple reasons, 1 being that it is extremely rare because there was only 1 year of pros made for that body, that was the first pro made, the inferno on that body style being exclusive to the pro, and more. The biggest thing that puts that Tacoma over the 3rd gen is the fact that it has the 4.0 V6. The 3rd gen engine and tranny suck IMO. I had one, and it shifted terribly, was slow and made me feel like I was driving a prius with the eco button on that controlled the throttle, and it just had no guts really. Lots of people have been having problems with that engine and transmission from what I have heard.

Anyone searching for a Cavalry Blue right now? Magic Toyota in Lynnwood WA has one listed on their site for $52K.

That's where I bought mine... was really hard to find the blue. The mark up is part of their "Northwest package"... which is your basic undercoating and interior coating... you know, the BS Truecoat like in the movie Fargo lol

How do you define “big time idiots with money?”

I define them by their lack of appreciation or knowledge of a product, but want one because it is cool to have.

I don’t consider myself a big timer or that I’m rolling in cash. I lucked out and was contacted by a fellow car business guy who took one in on trade. I feel I got a very fair deal and am happy with this over my SR5 that I had.

Has anyone ordered a 2019 yet?

I put a deposit down to be the one who gets the only one allocated to the dealer near me in Connecticut. I check Toyota's website almost every other day and signed up for the emails to notify of any news on the TRD lineup.

What if it provides everything you need it too, plus the cool factor? Asking for a friend, of course.

Again it's his money but IN MY OPINION, paying over MSRP is dumb. It's a Trail with an appearance package. You can buy a Trail (off road now) for thousands less and put on a ton more aftermarket parts and have a much better vehicle IN MY OPINION. So the only thing you won't have is the fancy paint and you can probably get the vehicle wrapped for around $4K. Add $3K in said aftermarket parts and you will be right at about the price of a stock PRO. This is the last time I say all this (have said it many times in many threads) because every time I voice my opinion like this someone on here gets butt hurt. It's just ridiculous. Facts are facts and you can have a better vehicle with aftermarket parts for less money than a PRO...Another crazy part is people are paying for all the extra stuff on a PRO and then turn around and replace all the stuff they paid extra for!!!... So they basically paid $7K for fancy paint........and paying over MSRP for any vehicle IN MY OPINION is being dumb with money. :spider:

....but, but, the resale factor is real Wally...not when you pay over MSRP dude!

$7k is actually a really good price for that quality of a paint job, just sayin' - facts are facts. I'd write more, but I just got my Pro a few months ago and my Icon lift is coming in along with my new bumpers and skid plates. My biggest mod is replacing all of the windows with real tinted glass and adding the sunroof. I'll let you know how it all turns out.

Some of us dig the special colors - sounds like you don't. Who cares?

I like having things that aren't run of the mill :drummer:

And, I can guarantee you will be in future threads posting negative energy :bravo:

Maybe you should start a “In my opinion 4RUNNER TRD PRO” thread??

Did you say sunroof?
