4Runner TRD Trail PRO Build Thread

I am in Hampton. It's cool to see the trail you hit out in western va. That's quite a hike

It wasn't that bad of a drive, it was 3 hours up there. It was a good day for the drive.
I'm planning on going up to some trails in George Washington national forest with some friends at the end of next month.

I got an HID kit the other day. I plan on trying to install it Monday. I didn't get a relay fuse kit with mine. Do I need that for the HIDs to pull enough power? My kit just plugs into the headlight bulb plug, the the ballast, and into the new bulb.

Great thread and I love that you created your own TRD Pro

Thank you Marty, I am in love with it.
There is no difference other than the leather seats, and I just did not want them. I have a one of a kind I believe. Some people like it, and some don't...

What company did you buy them from?
I don't see why they wouldn't work, I bought some hids for my old f150, they didn't come with relays, and worked just fine.
Let me know if you need any help.

I bought Kensun's off Amazon. They have some great reviews and it's my first HID kit. I didn't want to dump $200 into a kit that I might screw up. I like your step by step with pictures. That should help me. I bought all new exterior bulbs so the colors will match.

Yeah the reviews look good on it. The kit that I bought was $158 delivered in two days.
It's really easy, just take your time drilling the holes in the cover, and making the opening bigger until it fits in there just right.
After that everything else is a breeze.
You bought the high beams, and fog lights?

Some people like it, and some don't..

I laugh at the some don't part.... as I built a 70 Camaro and literly mounted a bike rack on the right rear quarter panel. You should have seen the looks on peoples face when we debut'd it at Sema. I think we only had one person say I don't get it and that is okay.

I think your truck was very well done and I am heading down the same road as you with the TRD stuff. I was thinking about having badges made that said TRD Limited Edition.

Exactly! Some people like it, some don't.
It's not their vehicle, it's yours!

Thank you for the compliment. That would be really cool. I saw this Toyota Badge creator over at the "what did you do to your 4Runner thread". The look pretty solid.

I made my way to get my windows tinted. It really makes a night and day difference.

When I was at work last night I was shipped out to a different station and parked beside another guy with a 4th gen.
He had bigger springs and the shocked turn up. It looks good, guess I need to order the 2 inch lift for the TRD suspension.
There was a guy with a Tacoma the next morning that parked beside who wanted to play too.

That tint looks really good. What percentage did you get on your front and back windows?

Yours looks great,I just picked up my new white 16 SR5 Premium Saturday. I had already planned on the TRD Pro Wheels. You gave me some other great ideas.

Great job making your "Pro". I got a Pro last year and you have given me some ideas about some minor upgrades. How handy do you have to be to install the HID lights?

Hillarious that you were sold hook, line, and sinker after watching Adventure Overland. I am also a lifelong Ford truck owner who did exactly the same. My friend Matteblack came to visit and got me to watch the show. Now I own a flat dark earth TRD Pro.

I've had dogs for a long time and leather seats. Typically leather is more pet friendly than cloth so I'm not sure your logic behind the cloth is pet friendlier mindset other than your 2nd reason which is you don't like leather. :) I mean all it takes is a few muddy paws on a cloth seat and you are in trouble. Only 'damage' I've had on a leather seat due to dogs was light scratching which wiped out like it would on any other leather product.

Nice ride btw!

The only difference between mine and a legit trd pro are the leather seats, heated seats, and about $6,000.
I would of bought a TRD Pro but my dogs would have tore up the seats, and honestly don't care for leather, so why not.

I think the only reason I got free installation was because by brother in law works there, but definitely not complaining.

Sorry for the delay in posting, I really didn't think people were still posting haven't checked it in a while. Only other update is I recieved my sliders from C4 fab. Those things are awesome, and I was able to install them by myself. The only thing that I wish I had done was for them to paint them, it was kind of a pain.

If you have basic hand tools and some sockets, you would be able to knock it out in an hour.
It is really easy

Where are you in VA?

I live near Virginia beach, Hampton Newport News area. I see that ou are in Charlottesville, my friends and I travel up there quite often.

Truck is looking good man! Did you get that rack yet? Also.. are you planning on a RTT as well?

I have not received my rack yet!!! It is coming up on 3 months, and I am dying to get that thing! Hopefully soon.
I do enjoy rtts, but it is not in the works as of now, and I don't think I will be getting one just for the fact of lifting dogs in and out of the tent.
I will however be ordering a "Outback Swag" I have been wanting one after I slept in one overnight when my wife and I traveled to Austrilia last year. They have only recently started bring them into the USA.
They are durable and so comfortable.
