Here is a video of my 4Runner. 0-60 and 70-governor (113)

0-60 in under 7.4

Tires: 265/70/17 BFG AT's 38PSI
Outside Temp: 35F
Inside Temp: 70F Auto
Elevation: Sea Level
Gas: V-Power 1/4 tank
Mileage: 59097
Road: FLAT
Cargo: 400lbs including me.

Ive done dumber things, like 150 on the highway.

Very nice, :bluejump: especially considering larger than stock tire size and that they are heavy AT BFG. Thank you for posting it!
Hopefully it will put on ease all who doubts 0-60 time for 4-th gen V8. :

P.S. Was your speedometer recalibrated for larger tire size?

No, its not off by that much. I have a 9500ix and NAV HU if I want 100% accurate speed.

PS any pics of your lift? Interesting combo, looking for something similar - I dont want to deal with the alignment hassle that larger lifts bring.

:lmao: I mean, the VVTi should be faster. If you were in a 2003 non-VVTi V8(like mine) and same conditions above, probably youd clocked 7.8.

I can beat 7.4, I have lighter tires and only 2wd...but I won't do it because it will explode! :biggrin2:

Yeah, I bookmarked the video, I'll show it to my friend ..he won't believe that my 5000lbs SUV can go 0-60 in 7.1(record). They said the only thing I have is the end torque.

Today on the highway I smoked a civic Si (hate those things). He tried to pass after riding my bumper. I floored it from about 80 and my car lengths lead just kept increasing. He refused to look at me when I rolled down my window once he caught up as I slowed down.

I have also crushed entry level 3 and 5 series BMW's, V8 X5's, lexus IS/ES's. The looks on peoples faces is bewilderment. Basically any car that does 0-60 in 7.5 or more seconds. Lots of cars are gutless after 60 which is not true of the V8 4R. Even my land cruiser is surprisingly nimble. The V8 is an incredible platform.

Koz thats funny. I was looking at my NAV HU and it said my top speed was 117mph. I thought the limiter was 113, I guess that 4mph is the difference in tire diameter.

117 in the 4R is FAST, I get to 120+ in other cars and its nowhere near the same feeling. That is a lot of steel moving very quickly. The wind noise is unreal.

What do you reckon it could get to without the limiter. In my vid at top speed Im still in 4th gear and not at the redline. I imagine 125-130 absolute tops.

Even the non-VVTI V8 is pretty quick, it does surprise people that something that large can move. I've never driven a VVTI V8 4Runner, I wonder how much of a difference I would notice.

The big V8 4.4l X5 is faster though, I had one as a loaner.

You're still not going to take my V8 M3 though :AK47: Even if the 4R is a much more comfortable ride.

There is a speed limiter in most SUVs for good reason. Most trucks become unstable at high speeds (not very fast compared to other vehicles 100+ mph). Been there done that many times. If on a flat straight highway at low altitude I would guess somewhere around 125/130 mph. HP will make a difference in top speed.

Awesome man...but im surprised yours cut out at 113MPH, ive taken my 2007 V6 to its limiter twice...118MPH, and it seemed to get there a lot quicker...different conditions maybe.

Nice, you seem to be the only person that drives like me in my 4runner. Except I seem to be more crazy. I just shredded my gears in my rear end from powerbraking, and powersliding on dry roads. Apparently it was too much for the diff.

I agree. My V6 seems to pull from 90-governor a lot faster then this one. I wouldnt think so since a V8 is stronger and can pull at top end.

Great video. Just curious, when you hit the governor, does it automatically slow the truck down or was that you easing up?
