well i did use you tire fitment guide to get sidewall difference
but i am not talking about low profile tires, i am talking about the difference between the 17 OEM size per your chart vs the 20 OEM size.
265/70/17 vs 245/60/20
now if he was running like 45-50 sidewall ratio i could understand. i still go back to my original, if your hitting a pothole at a speed that it causes a flat, then more likely your going to cause a flat regardless of if your using the 17 OEM size or the 20 OEM size.
now if they would bring back the old 31x10.5 sizes from the old days, that would fun
edit : i know people here have run into the famous detroit potholes, especially i75/i94 (i can attest to them visiting family in xmas).
It's pretty simple. F=ma when hitting a pothole and the only thing keeping the F off the rim is that cushion of air and rubber in the sidewall. The bigger the better to absorb the F.
