4runner wins, Ford Escape loses!!

So this lady decided to not yield for a stop sign and hit my rear end. I was so close to avoiding her, she would have hit me side on if I did not avoid her.

My truck has a dent in the rear left bumper. Her entire front end is done, bumper, grill, lights, hood and radiator.

That's such a funny statement. New cars are 10x safer in an accident than older cars. I love how every generation thinks that the cars from there child hood are the last of the real cars. So in 16 years the people will claim that the cars from today are made from real steel. Some lady backed into the front of my wife's forester. The lady was driving a 16 year old Mazda b series. Same as a ranger. The bumper on the Mazda was bent down. The front of forester had a bent license plate. I guess the plastic bumpers from 2012 is real compared to the plastic bumpers built today.

They are safer in major collisions but low impact obviously older cars have less damage was that poster point. I highly doubt your forrester story as maybe the bumper was already bent. I breathe on my subaru STI and my paint flakes off.

Would you rather survive a high speed accident or a low speed bump? Well believe it or not it's true. I was surprised.

Both obviously but major collisions weren't the argument here. In fact there really wasn't any argument until you decide to make one.

LOL exactly what is going to happen. Addicted offroad rear bumper will be purchased hopefully soon. LOL.

Back in high school days got hit in my first DSM, 1990 AWD Talon. With the money I was able to get FMIC, new turbo, junkyard bumper, maaco paint job, EMS and fuel upgrades with the insurance money.

My thoughts exactly! Who ever thought carbon fiber, plastic and "crush zones" were good ideas on a truck???

And not to continue the argument... but I've been in a high speed accident involving a 4Runner. The other driver blindsided me at a stop light going 50 MPH. He rolled the 4Runner after sliding about 100 feet but it was mostly sound. Bent the frame in the front and scratched it a bit but was still intact (I think it was totalled due to frame damage though). My Corolla? Half the motor was blasted across the intersection and we were spun around several times by the impact. Only by God's grace did we all excape with no injuries. Point of the story: My plastic Corolla suffered way more damage than his 4Runner but both vehicles protected us in the crash.

The newer designs do protect the occupants better but at the cost of much higher and easier damage, which seems overkill in minor collisions. But the regulations are for safety, not for repair bills.

Btw there actually is a metal bumper under all that plastic usually. The plastic you see is called the "bumper cover".

Yeap, we always removed these in our older talons and eclipses to save weight and to allow for FMIC install. Very safe. LOL.
