4runner won't start, can anyone help?

So I went to start the 4runner this morning and it wouldn't do anything.

Two weeks ago when I put new rear springs in and changed the front springs it wouldn't start. I got my friend's charger and it started pretty quickly. This morning the same thing happened except I didn't have a charger, so I took my battery to Sears since I just bought it 11 months ago (DieHard Platinum P5). But they said the battery was bad and gave me a new.

After I got home and replaced the battery nothing changed. No clicking, no nothing it just goes blank when I turn the key. I turned my front lights on and my GF said they're not dimming when I turn key so it's not draining the battery.

I have a remote starter but it doesn't seem to be affecting anything and when I try to use it I get pretty much the same response.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah to make things worse I'm in Tuscaloosa and the LSU game is tonight so traffic is god-awful.

Almost like they gave you a nice new dead battery. Are you able to jump start it again?

Haven't tried jumping it yet, figured the battery was good and I'm kinda busy because I have people in town for the game.

It's a $220 battery though so I'd hate to think it's bad out of the box.

It might not be bad, just discharged. Who knows how long its been sitting around in storage..

No clicking even with the new battery you got this morning? It sounds to me like the starter may be bad....?
I had this happen on my old truck (3rd gen) and I went out one morning, went to start it and nothing. No clicking or even an attempt to turn over. I found the starter and tried to tap it with a screwdriver or wrench (I've heard that can help) and it still did nothing. Ended up having to get it towed and have a new starter put on it....then it worked purrrfectly. hah.

That could be the issue at hand, then again, I'm no mechanic haha. GL with this one, Matt; it couldn't have happened at a worse time!!!! (GAMEDAY!!!)

I realized this morning that the starter relay and solenoid sound like they're clicking. But just once when the key is turned and after the click nothing.

The relay should only click once to apply power. If you can hear your starter click once and stop you probably have bad contacts. If thats the case try to hit the starter while cranking. If it starts then you need a new starter. I dont know if you could get new starter contacts to reduild but that might be an option.

You put too many miles on it! Mine starts fine!

Yeah the game was a bummer, I was more bothered by the 3 field goals to 2 score, than the fact that we lost. At least at I got to watch 4th qtr & OT from a skybox. But none of that is as much of PITA as the 4r acting up when we have a 6 hour trip to Savannah planned for next weekend.

Found the problem, this wire burned up and was shorting out the EFI fuse.

Anyone have any clue what this might be?

It seems to run fine without it and we can't see anything not working.

Looks like black, black w red, green w grey, & white or grey

After looking through wiring diagrams on and off for most of the day this is where I am...

As best I can see the plug is "IB2 - Floor No 2 Wire and Engine Room Main Wire (Left Kick Panel)"

After searching through the diagrams on my computer it looks like that plug is responsible for Active Height Control Suspension (air suspension? which I don't have), VSV (Canister Closed Valve) which is part of the EVAP emissions, and the last 2 wires go to the trailer tail light sockets.

I think it may be ok to leave it unplugged and drive until I have time to trace the wiring back to where it shorts out.

The two melted wires are the black wire to the VSV (CCV) and the green/black wire to the trailer tail lights.

edit - also I decided to chance it since I knew I could trace the wiring from where my mechanic got and it has been running well thus far.
