Damn. For me normal is 195-205 and 98% of time Coolant-In is about 202 on the ScanGauge.
About the same for me. My scangauge usually reads 200-204.
It should be at the 6 o'clock position at all times per the FSM. One system you don't want to tax in the 4runner, or any car for that matter, is the cooling system.
Perform the magazine test on the fan clutch and check the coolant. I have found in all my autos that by the fifteenth year the fan clutch is gone or on its last leg.
Alright, so now that I am home, I should fully explain all the things I currently know.
The other day around 4 pm I was leaving work. I started the car (cold start) and it sounded rough. It honestly felt like I was firing on 5 cylinders, like an injector was out. No big deal, dealt with injectors before. But after about a minute, the car felt fine.
The next morning (yesterday morning) I started the car and it had a rough idle again, same symptoms as before. Still no engine codes, or check engine light, nothing. After a minute it was gone.
Then today, my scan gauge was actually hooked up. (The stupid Mercedes had a check engine light I was reading). I was driving away from work today again, no rough start. Temperature was rising quickly. It got to 224*F before I shut it off. Then later this evening I drove home from work at 8:30pm. Engine was cold again. Got home with it only getting to 195*F. So then it became time to check everything.
Coolant overflow tank= Empty
Radiator= Took about 1/3 gallon of coolant to fill the radiator to the top.
Coolant that was in the radiator looked clean.
Oil was also just as clean as when I put it in there.
Filled Radiator and overflow tank. Drove about 6 miles, coolant never got over 188*F (Normal for me).
