I don't want to go crawler with this build... No body damage haha. I'll pick up a first gen eventually.
 
Few runners look good as crawlers in my opinion, maybe a SAS 4th or 5th gen if I was gonna do one. I want to do an FJ40 though when that time comes :D

I don't know. I actually like my rear setup. It's amazingly smooth surprisingly. After I get my Icon's in the back, I'll be done throwing money at that until long travel. Reading up on link setups is getting me very excited.

Trucks looking great and I was laughing when I saw your grille fly off in that video. Any plans for a rear bumper at all?

So I'm gonna be working at a country club in Scottsdale next semester. And hopefully I can rake in enough money and tips to buy a welder. Once I have a welder I'll either build my own rear bumper, or wait for Savage finish up the redesign of their's.

Nice, I really want to build my own bumpers or at least skids, so I'm going to try and pick one up this winter.

Didn't know Savage was redesigning their rear bumper as well. I like their current, but will be interested in their redesign.

I think he's building a gas tank skid first. Last time I picked up stuff from him we talked for a while about whats coming. At the time he was working on the front bumper he just released. So I think next is gas tank skid and then rear bumper.

I've never run across them in my research, I would assume it does since the 8" axle is essentially the same thing on ours since it came out but I'm not 100% certain.

I would be cautious though, I disagree with their reasoning. If the Heims are mounted correctly then the bolt can be horizontal (heim vertical) and all the loading will be parallel with the link, so stating it will increase joint life the way they did it doesn't mean it's not true for other mounting configurations. Additionally, with the heim vertical then the joint geometry if you will (how the ball and bolt are in relation to the race) shouldn't change drastically (if at all) since the bolt is just rotating (when the whole axle droops), so the joint isn't actually deflecting to the sides if that makes sense--which with their setup the joint will have more significant misalignment whenever the axle moves vertically, which would decrease joint life like they argue their setup reduces...

If it was me I would mount the Heims vertical, so then you can droop away and the joint won't bind, so the main misalignment is from one side drooping and the other bumping. With that said, I doubt either one matters and theirs is certainly easier to mount and easy to get the geometry perfect, but if you're going big then a vertical heim setup will only limit flexing versus limiting the whole axle drooping and flexing.

And I don't mean to bash on those guys, I just feel like they are trying to explain statics without fully understanding it... Not to say I'm a professional (yet!) :D

Currently I'm debating running a true 4 link setup instead of the 3link wishbone.
