I commend your bravery in running bronze wheels. I am too scared to try new things =p

I am curious how much dampening your shocks are providing while they're leaking. My Icons showed no signs of leaks, I just had them rebuilt because I had the front rebuilt. I was, however, able to compress them by hand if used both hands on the top and had the bottom on the ground. I just tried that on a set of pretty fresh Radflo's and I could not budge them, even with all my weight on them. Makes me excited to get my shocks back and see how much they've changed.

On an unrelated note... Your shocks continue to blow my mind with those stickers. So weird. I had Icon send me some new ones to use on my freshly rebuilt shocks and they came in today. Free =D

The diff was leaking too, to be fair haha. Fixing the leaky diff is free, fixing those shocks is not. Pulling that pumpkin is not a fun job though, especially solo.

Well what a day.

And then something interesting happened. Just like I thought, the tires don't clear Savage Sliders, but only on turns. So Discount helped me do a 10 point turn in their parking lot and wished me luck on my way home. It was an interesting drive, but now terrible. 4.10's and 35's aren't nearly as bad as everyone says.

My dog was pretty unsure of my decision, as was I.

So, first I started with what I thought would be the easy side, the back. It rubbed the front pinch weld while going over speed bumps. I taped off the area and took a sledge hammer to it. Sadly I found lots of bondo on one side from when it was repainted. This caused the body to chip slightly. So I taped it off again and put a little bedliner on the corners, almost like a rock guard. It turned out pretty good.

Sadly, there are plenty of other rubbing issues in the back. In this photo it's rubbing my rear bumper and the rear pinch weld, a problem easily solved on another day.

After cutting the slider about an inch or so on both sides, it's still clear a firewall tub is in the future. I rub the pinch just slightly under compression and turn.

Overall I'm very happy with it. It looks fantastic and I can't wait to cut more and wheel the piss out of it.

I am with the dog as far as the being on the fence about the look, but as long as it has great utility off road, then so be it. If anything, at least the sniper has a bigger target next time around.

It's actually a model newer than an SC, a 964. I'm currently in the process of installing Bilsteins and H&R springs. Working on the 4Runner is so much easier.

Kudos to you for doing the work sans some sort of lift. It would drive me crazy.

3.6L flat six. It's annoying sometimes, but you learn to deal without it. One day in a house of my own, I will have a lift, it's a priority.
