I was sick of hitting my savage off-road front bumper on things, so it was time to sell it. I sold it for the same price I bought it new for 5 years. So that's pretty great hahaha.

Then I bought a 20" Onyx Baja Designs light bar.

Then cut the frame rails back a little. I'm going to cut farther a little later.

Hammers looks like it was a blast, I'm definitely going to make it out there next year. I'm punching myself for not going this year even though I would missed some tests haha. New bumper will be sick opcorn:

This year was the busiest and dustiest. Hoping for a little more water next year to cut down the dust. I’ll be out there as always though! Hoping to get to Colorado this summer too.

What are your plans for the new front bumper?

3/16” plate welded to the frame. Then 1/4” aluminum “access panels” that bolt into place. I’ll be cutting as much frame as I can. Trying to get it back as far as possible and definitely farther than anyone has ever gone.

I have to ask how your friend likes the PW. As fun as the silver diesel you drove last month? Haven only driven one down a power line dirt road it was nice but felt heavy.

He loves it. He has about 45k miles on it, uses it to wheel all over, ties his Toyota Buggy with it. It does everything. I prefer the diesel though just for towing ability. With a coil spring rear on the PW, you’re kind of limited.

This popped up on Facebook as being 6 years ago. Open diffs, sway bars, OME 2" lift. I was 15 and had just gotten my permit. What a long way she's come.

I never really minded it for the price. It was $300 new and right after I mashed the stock one, it seemed perfect. Roy at Savage is a good guy and I really like buying all my armor from him.

The problem I've had is the approach angle.

Decided to sacrifice approach angle for a winch. Ordered a 9.5k Smittybuilt. We'll see what happens when I start the fab. I see 0 free time in my future.

You could have both. Have you thought about building a receiver into the bumper? Then build a cradle for the winch. It's not as strong as a full bumper build set-up but a lot of guys use them and prefer them.

If approach angle is really that important to you it's a good option.

If you’re talking about what I think you’re talking about, that’s just one more thing to carry around. Not gonna happen. I’d rather tuck it in there far enough where I won’t care about it being there
