The classic American design, and I'm not even sure if it still exists across makes and models any more, was all interior lights would go on when a door is open, plus the rheostat on the dash that adjusts instrument cluster brightness, had a last click position that would turn on all interior lights with the doors closed. This feature was pretty doggone handy!

So I contacted Weathertech and they were responsive - just in denial. They think the issue is that the mat doesn't stay in place, so they sent Velcro strips to put on the bottom of the passenger side. But the real issue is that the mat isn't quite sized or formed correctly.
The woman I spoke with supported the idea of "mashing" the passenger side mat, suggesting that I repeat what I did before, which did in fact make the mat fit perfectly until it resumed its original shape.
She said to leave the weight on it longer this time, so currently my mat is upside down on the floor of the garage with a bag of potting soil on it. I'm leaving it for several days and will see if that does anything to permanently alter the shape so it fits. I'll let you know.
If that last paragraph made you think, "that's a ridiculous thing to have to do to get a pricey mat to fit right," well, I'm right there with you.

powder graphite is still the preferred method for lubricating locks, oil base will attract dust making it gummy
i would double check just to make sure

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but I accidentally discovered that the front headrests don't just slide up/down, they're kind of hinged at the top so the bottoms can swivel back & forth front and back.
This forum just helped me figure out this hollow square thing and I have been googling all sorts of keywords. This forum rules!

I'm currently in a wrangler and its great being able to take the back window off, now I won't have to give that up!

there is a small compartment in the glovebox towards the top and back a bit. it's really easy to miss because there's just a small tab thats on the face of the door that allows you to open it up.
i would say it's pretty secretive considering i only discovered it after 6 or 7 months of owning the truck, which i bought at a dealer. apparently the dealer techs/employees weren't aware of it either because when i opened it i found a tupperware cup of dogfood and napkins and an old christmas cd (score!)

Just found this, turns out I have the original owner's manual, warranty information guide, and the rear seat audio remote.

What's odd is I have that same remote, but nowhere to use it.
There's a little LCD screen above the seats, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
I've heard it requires magic Toyota headphones to use, which I don't have.

Just found this, turns out I have the original owner's manual, warranty information guide, and the rear seat audio remote.
i will trade you some dogfood for that owners manual... :eyebrows::rofl:

I didn't realize this until I had a dead battery. I turned the key, and the car didn't start, so I let go of the key and it kept cranking.. It scared the crap out of me. Thought my car was haunted or something until I read about the 4runners doing this. I never any automaker offered this.

My t4r had 2 previous owners before me. I'm guessing for the 70k the 2nd owner had the t4r, they never knew about this cubby, because I found a box of condoms, expiring in 2009, insurance card from 2007, pencil, pen, old cell phone maybe from 2005?, and a few miscellaneous things.
