Slider question: if the brackets of SE tubular-style sidesteps (running boards, whatever you want to call them) bolt to the frame, and the step part bolts to the bracket, is there any reason I couldn't:
1) Disassemble them;
2) Have a metal fab shop create the bar part that can be bolted to the brackets; and
3) Assemble the resulting parts, bolt them onto the 4R's frame and enjoy having sliders?
If that makes sense, maybe they could reinforce the brackets too with some additional plating?
Interested to see whether anyone has tried that approach or just has feedback based on their own experience with sliders.
I didn't think the running boards (any model) bolted to the frame. I thought they bolted to the body...
