Anyone put an ipad mini in their dash? Been toying with this but not sure if it would fit and look good at the same time.

Totally hear ya. LED "jury is still out". Looking promising, with some kits (vleds) can be adjusted for better "focus". I dunno, we'll see.
superbrightleds is a great store. I use them for some LEDs, so far, no problems. As far as a "major" component such as low/hi beam bulb replacements, I think the jury is still out....... maybe I'm wrong.
These are the monsters I'm looking at: They are high beams which means they are not on all the time, so "beam pattern" and the such aren't as important as low beams, which are on all the time during night driving. Those of us with retrofits who have left the hi beams alone, know that they are practically worthless after a retro.
9006 LMZ 45W 4500LM ULTRA OUTPUT LED HEADLIGHTS - 9006 HB4 - LED Headlights
Those are the higher priced ones I was refering to. They look like a great kit, but no way I'd shell out that kind of money, I got my whole projector retro for less than that
Yesterday I switched from 265/65/17 tires to 285/70/17. Any idea on roughly how much my speedo will be off?

It depends on what speed you are traveling. At 35 it will only be off by 1 or 2 mph, but when your speedo says 55 you are actually doing 59.

I've wanted to do this for a couple years but can't decide on exactly how to execute. 1.) Have just the iPad or 2.) have a deck in the dash with the iPad in front of it. Option 2 would allows me to have music when I don't want to put the iPad in place.
roughly 7% from what i remember when i set my speedohealer.
I refuse to do a scangauge because its ugly and a bandaid for a bigger problem. and did i mention its ugly.

I saw the soundman one last night after posting, but I dont like the way it looks. it doesnt follow the flow of the dash too well, but that could be because he used the kit that slides in from the side. I would want it more integrated in, maybe using one of soundman's float mount kits. Im also not sure my body working skills are up to it though haha.
I would just want the ipad. Then get a converter for the ipad that gives a digital output that Ill run to a digital sound processor, then to the amps. Would provide better sound quality than a standard headunit, but as you said, no ipad=no music. You could do an Ipad mounted in the dash, and put a headunit behind it. That way you have a headunit there when there is no ipad. Would be a tight fit though
Except after you replace bulbs for a while you'll end up spending more. I'm sold on the LED's, but it's definitely going to take awhile. As you said, they are expensive!
