saw this on expeditionportal and was thinking if it was something our trucks could handle. would remove the grab handles and replace them with a metal bar and then mount to 4 or 6 of the roof mounted handle locations

Going to try tomorrow, was going to a couple weeks ago. My neighbor has presses to help with, but, didn't put any heat to them to pop them when I did my poly bushings. Just follow the direction, and if your using a press and they don't budge, put some heat on the LBJ only and it usually will release when pressed.
If I don't get to them, will be doing some wiring for some lights for the rack, just spent today wiring a relay and fuse box in cab, that was time consuming.
And since I made it home now, Congratulation Sam and the Misses, hope the both of you have Many years of happiness together, and good luck on the child situation. Having them is just another joy of life for you. Granted I never have been married, at least not in the USA.

You trying to make a sleeping quarters up there, looks like it would be tight or your a pretty small guy.

Thanks for the links, now as far as the steering drop, i thought it wasn't needed for the 1 inch. But then i read some threads recommending it, i don't want any weird steering issues or anything, and I'm getting the bl installed soon so want to be prepared.
Edit: i dunn goofed, just realized the toytec our included the steering shaft spacer.

Check out my build for a writeup on the bushings. Swapped to poly few years back. It's easy but takes some time.

Have you considered just replacing the whole arm? My lower balljoints have seen better days and I've been contemplating just replacing the whole thing at once. From what I've read it seems like a huge PITA to press the BJ's out and melt out the bushings. I'm sure I could do it but I'd rather save myself the hassle and have a completely new assembly to just bolt in.

I looked into it but mines only bushings, the BJ is still fine. The replacement arm is around $400 each. I looked at Total Chaos but they want $1500 for OEM replacement. So thats out. Ill just do the stock replacement bushings for now and wait until my BJs go out and fight them to replace if needed because of the ridiculous cost.

When you heat them up, look for when they separate from the housing like the first photo, and do it around the entire shaft. All the post I found just say to get them to start to smoke and never showed this. I did the smoke thing on the first one and was a mess. Second shot shows how easy they slide out and very little to clean up. Let them cool a little and continue for the center.
Honestly, if you have the arms off, I would do your BJ at the same time.

So my buddy has be asking me a bunch of questions about 4r's showing me CL ads for Sport models etc etc.
Well today he found a clean 08 Urban Runner, 4WD, v6, Arctic white. And it was in his home town. (He was looking way out of state) He's super stoked and I'm happy for him.
