4th Gen Grill Replacements & Inserts

Thanks Hoomiester.

Well, I came to work this morning not only to the surprise of a warm breakfast, but also the delight of having a reply email from Shuei.......and they will ship me some of their products!

I haven't heard of anyone getting any of their parts.....so I am pretty excited. I am willing to do a mass order if some of you want some parts too. They have some other products that I haven't seen anywhere else, like fender flares, and a nice skid plate looking thing. Maybe someone with babelfish can translate some of the website pages for us. When checking out the website, keep in mind there are seperate sites summarizing the shuei hilux parts and while most of the parts are the same, some are different on each site.

I need some feedback on the Shuei Grill......does anyone like it? I am leaning towards that grill. I personally like the chrome look and think it will look great with some of the chrome door handles that should be hear any day....and the taillight guards I am getting. It would probably look amazing with the T&H bars, but I am still unsure if they effect the airbags, so that is on hold for now.

FYI: I am going to start a seperate thread titled "Shuei Japanese Accessories", to discuss ordering parts from them:

Hoomiester,

Please do post those pics if possible. I also have a Galactic Gray and just purchased the gutter guard today. I'd like to see how it looks and any tricks/issues you may have had.
Thanks in advance.

Luxury.. thanks for compiling this thread.. lots of good info.

Here are the pics. It's very easy and cost hardly nothing - which is nice if you're like me and screw up alot!

Last pic. Sorry I'm not a paid photographer and the quality of these shots demonstrates why that is!

Hoomiester,

Thanks for the pics. That looks pretty good on the Galactic Gray. I think I'll give this a shot.. hell if I don't like it, I can always rip it off...:p

One of my friends had some of the "auto mesh" he was putting on a sports car for his son. I had an extra strip of the gutter guard around and showed it to him. When compared side-by-side, the heaviness of the gutter guard caused him to go to Lowes and buy the gutter guard. It's shiny and really heavier than the costly auto mesh.

He was also going to glue attachments onto his grill to hold it. When he saw the zip ties, he almost freaked out because you really can't tell they are on there until you get real close and look for them. And I used some bigger ones!

Thanks again Loyd! It does look good.

Get ready for a little story of how I go these pics. Anything interesting about the grills I will post along with the pics:

So, I was driving home from a horrible day at work and had my music blasting. All of the sudden my subconscious started talking to the conscious part of my brain and it said "Hey you fool, that was a black 4runner with the billet grill that just drove by in your peripheral vision, wake up". So, I flipped a quick bzatch, stretched the V8's legs, weaved in and out of traffic, and got up with him. Then raced a little ahead of him to make sure my subconscious wasn't lying. At the first red light I jumped out and ran up to his window, like I was car jacking him or something and shouted something about checking out his grill. I then followed him to his destination a few feet away. I spent a long time checking it out because my camera wasn't in its usual home in my center console. When I got home, I decided to go back to the gym he parked at and take some pics.

I think I am a little obsessed with this decision and this forum!

This first pic is of where I store my camera.....in its charging cradle, utilizing the 110V outlet. It might not be the best for my camera's battery, but it sure is convenient.

I took tons of pics, and have it at just about any angle, so if you want to see more just ask and I will post them. This last pic demonstrates one interesting thing. It shows that he actually removed the existing lower portion rather than saw off the liscense plate holder thing. He didn't say anything about it, I just noticed it and am assuming that is why it is removed. I stuck my hand under the bumper to snap this photo.

One thing I didn't like is it seemed kinda dirty, eventhough the car had just been washed. Some of it seemed to be little dings too.

Does anyone know what THIS is?

It says Grille Filler, Toyota Grille Molding, Car Grille Molding. Truck Toyota Parts. And they have it for both LH and RH. But I am still confused on what it is.

FYI..

Thanks to some previous posters, I decided to try the 'gutter-guard grill'. It is some cheap dressing that is easy to do.

The other pics were a little tough to see the detail. There is a picture of one in my gallery thread here:

Gutter-Guard Grill

You're right, that is a much better picture. Thanks.

Trying to IMG it here:

Edit: I guess this just added a direct link to the pic. I wish it would access the pic from the same place it is stored for the other thread.

Yeah, that is the first time I had tried it. I wish it would display your pic here also, but only store it in one location. I think I am going to add the actual picture here also so that people don't have to click the links.

Edit: navyaircrew also did this mod and posted a very similar pic of his galactic grey. Click here to go to his thread and pic.

This is ZonaT4R's pic from the link he gave above, shown here for easy viewing:

So I found another site that shows this piece, but again, I can't figure out what it is. Click HERE
Here is the pic from the site. The piece I am wondering about is piece 5. Not that it really matters, but I'm curious. Plus I thought this figure was nice:

I think I just found a pic that will sell a lot more people on this style grill cover. Click HERE to find where I got the pic. I think it is great that the guy added "4RUNNER" badges to his Hilux!
