4th Gen: HAM Antenna - Anyone tried through-glass?

I've read some reviews on through glass antennas working great on newer vehicles, but get other feedback that newer glass has metal flake in the glass for tint and to block RF, obviously killing the signal.

Does anyone know the answer for our trucks? My supermodel mount would be back left corner of the vehicle, high on the cargo area glass...

My first car was a 1993 mustang. I put a window mount antenna on it for my 2M Yeasu. I believe the antenna was a little 1/4 wave. I didn't have any real issues with range or performance of the antenna. I obviously couldn't get as good of a signal in or out as a 1/2 or full wave mounted to the roof but it worked well for anything in town or within 20 miles or so from the repeater.

I'm not sure about the metal in the glass, I haven't ever heard of that.
