4th Gen Sport Hood Replacement

Lil turd rocked my hood this evening. Curious if anyone has recently replacement a hood for a sport with black paint and windshield? I assume the windshield is somewhere in the $300-400 department but no idea on hood/paint/washer valve. I have a feeling that matching the paint will essentially be impossible at this age.

I am debating if it's worth to report to insurance.

PSA: Buy a dashcam.

Id be so pissed. One time i saw these kids in a neighborhood, they acted sketchy by picking rocks up. so i stop and coasted and stared them down. their parents came and gave me the stink eye. I gave the kid "ill beat your ass look " along with their parents.

The parents then look at what the kids had in their hands and i was able to pass without problems.


Btw, not sure what state your in but where i am at we get free windshield replacement every so years (sc).

Wow! That sucks! If you're looking for an aftermarket windshield it should be in the 200-300 range. I've been looking for a sport good myself with not much luck, but I think someone has a thread on a eBay sport hood painted.

I'm currently in the process of having my hood and front windshield replaced (some sort of debris bounced up, hit my hood scoop and glanced off the windshield at highway speeds) ... I went the insurance route, so I don't know the full cost yet, but I figured the cost of the parts along with blending my shadow mica would be more than I wanted to pay out of pocket. I'll update with the cost as soon as I see the estimate.

Go looking for that guy? It is Memphis, probably better not too. My first thought was to get someone from Jason Borne movies to enhance the image and get a pic so you can find out who did it. Ha!

I did stop and circle back and use my flashlight to look. I couldn't review the footage as I kept it rolling in case someone popped out of the woods. At the time I wasn't 100% sure if someone threw something or something fell off the bridge. I reviewed the footage on my computer when I got home. That's when I called the non-emergency line to report. They asked me why I didn't call in right when it happened and stay there? I told them the last time I called for assistance it took over 3 hours for them to show up. They laughed lol. I live 5 min from where this happened so didn't think anything of it as I wasn't completely sure of the situation.

It's this one. It's been really good. It does really well during the day but obviously, with that small of a sensor it's going to struggle at night. Especially close to the edge of its view distortion is going to play a big role in image quality. The police officers that came for my statement said they would probably pull of CCTV footage from around the area. Not holding my breath though. A lot bigger issues going on in Memphis than my hood and windshield.

Got two quotes on windshield. $200 installed no problem. Not the hood is going to be another story I believe...

Went to two shops. Neither had the sport hood listed as an option. This is going to be a mess....

You're lucky.
A few Winter's ago....some kids dropped a huge piece of ice onto a car driving on the highway and killed the passenger.
They passed new laws, making it a bigger crime...
and started installing 8-foot tall fences on bridges in that area.

Basically, be glad you only lost a hood and a windshield.

Doesn't look like they're replacing mine, but your damage might be different than mine ... the impact on my hood was primarily around the hood scoop, so there was no associated damage to the grill.

Mines the same way. Just figured it would be a nightmare to blend those two pieces. Should be comical all the small chips on that piece and a pristine hood. Maybe when they call with the repair list I can see if they will redo that piece as well and bill me separately. Probably a no though.

edit: Body shop is first attempting to repair my hood. I would assume that means cutting out the affected area and putting new steel in. Will see how that goes. Hopefully, they don't do a hack job and leave all the small dings in it....
