I am sure I will get beat up for this, but I have dug through several threads (including about 20 pages of this thread). Is there a single thread that compiles the pros and cons of the different shocks or suspensions available? Maybe I'm just being lazy, but I am new to 4runners (coming from Jeeps).

I have had my 2008 T4R SR5 4WD for about a month and a half. I love it thus far. After reading post after post on lifting T4Rs, I decided that, for now, I am just going to level it with the Daystar KT09117BK Comfort Ride 1" kit. My question is: is there any reason I would need to add a diff drop kit too? Also, any other feedback on this option would be appreciated.

You wont need a diff drop with only a 1" body lift.

I agree. I think 2.5" or more, then you should have a diff drop kit, unless you're running a longer travel strut, then you may need it at any lift height, because it could extend pass the regular working limit of the CV's.

I've got a question...
Has anyone heard of using the Wheeler T1 Front Coil Springs with the Wheeler T12 Rear Coil Springs with everything else stock?

I am trying to find out if that will work as well, but with the 5100s.

I've seen some success from people with 5100's and the Wheeler T1/T12, but I've also read that you'd want to get new Upper Control Arms as well. I'm trying to lift my suspension, yet not exceed 3 inches because UCA's are expensive.

Nope. Would be nice though.

If you are going with the T1/T12, why not use the Bilstein 5100's? That was one of my original considerations. With the Bilsteins at "0" you get 1.75" lift from what I remember.

It looks like I'll be ordering the OME 885 fronts with Toytec Superflex rear for my '05 V8 Sport. I should get 2.5" lift in the front and should be close to level in the rear with maybe a 1/4" to a 1/2" difference. Can anyone confirm that?

885s and 895 with 5100s netted me about 2.5 inches from the lift itself(not including tires) and i sit level

Im also trying to stay away from spacers if possible.
I've got spacers now on my 09. Worked for lift at the expense of the suspension but now time to ditch along with xreas. Moving to coil overs with new UCAs. And new springs out back. I've got a winch / demello combo up front and will have a rear bumper. Looking for articulation, travel, and some clearance for the pizza cutters I run. Crawling mostly. Usually run air out back so I can run smooth, and air up for loads. Looking at OW valved Radflo 2.5s up front. JBA UCAs up front. Toytec flex out back with air bags and have some bilstein shocks ready for the back but max look at longer travel options with new links if it will give me more articulation. My question is, if you're running application is similar to mine, what did you choose and why? Anyone running Radflo progressive rear springs as an alternate to Toytec. I guess they are both Eibach.

Please forgive the loaded question, but I am looking to build an overland style rig. I need good general offroad capability (not baja or rock-crawling) that can handle extra weight. Max budget is ~$2k. I think can get a 20% discount @ ARB.

I am thinking of getting what looks like the semi-standard 3/2 lift with new UCA.

What setup offers good value vs performance for what is out there now?

I see that toytec offers a Boss based setup not in the first page, is that one much of an improvement over what they had a few years ago?

I have looked at ICON stage II but I am a bit scared that you are just paying a lot for the name.

Would coil-covers be worth it or should I go with OME (because of the discount)?

You cant go wrong

with the ARB stuff b/c its proven to be very reliable. consider what tires you want ot use when considering coils..
