4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

I didn’t notice any data on the 5th gen rear springs into a 4th gen.

Does anyone know the approximate spring rate difference and the amount of lift they may provide?

I can make you any size you want. Let me know. call or text 717-319-2100

I ended up getting a 2018 Tacoma TRD off-road suspension for $120 with only 3200 Miles on it.
The fronts are installed. I’m weighing options to lift the rear 1”.

I do tow a trailer so slightly heavier springs would be nice in addition to providing a 1” lift out back. Hmm

10 lbs heavier spring rate

and about 1/2 to 1" difference in length which results in about .75" of lift with a bit of a firmer ride..YMMV

I have a pair if you want to buy um.

Can anybody tell me if i can get 3" of front lift using Bilstein 5100s? I want to fit 275/70R17's without having to hack into anything really. I want shocks and coils over a spacer lift but I'm not trying to break the bank as I'm a college student on a fairly limited budget.

Here's what the plan is so far:
Bilstein 5100s front and rear
Toytec Superflex rear shocks

From what I've read, the front Bilsteins only go up to 2.5" of lift but I want 3" in the front so it will sit level. Can I use OME or Eibach coils with the 5100s to get a full 3" of lift or is there a better way to get a 3/2 lift?

Oh it's a Limited V6 4WD btw

I used these for a 3 inch lift on the front, I used the bottom setting.

I recently installed my lift. Bilstien shocks, wheelers T1/T12 springs, New KYB strut mounts, and new moog rear 2nd gen swaybar links. I noticed recently when driving at slow speeds in parking lots and drive-thrus I am getting a lot of squeaking from my front end. Mostly when wheels turn, braking and front compresses a little, or one tire hits a bump. Any ideas what may be causing this and how to fix it? The squeaking isn't that loud and I can only hear it with the windows down and radio off.

I have the same problem after installing daystar 2.5/1.5 spacers. Replaced all my sway bar bushings but this didn't resolve anything. Still trying to figure out the culprit.

I have a 2004 4Runner Limited 4WD with the XREAS suspension. I just picked up a set of 2014 4Runner struts, shocks and rear springs with 8,000 miles on them (4WD truck). they look new. What is needed to install these on my 2004? What spacers if any do I need to have it sit level. Has anyone used the 2014 4Runner shocks, struts and springs on their 4th Generation? Thanks Phil

Check the first post of this thread for info and links, some modification may be needed.

Dang, it doesn't sound like the 5th Generation Struts, Shocks and Springs are the way to go. Additional work to install and then they don't give a great ride. Looks like these will go out for sale and I will find some FJ parts. thanks for the input. Phil

Do you want to ditch the XREAS? I have a 2008 Urban Runner with 142k miles and the XREAS is still connected with no issues. I have a coil spacer kit from Toytec so I did not have to disconnect the XREAS.

Greeting all,

I'm the proud owner of an 08 SE with a V8. In the next couple months I'm planning on installing one of them nifty C4 Low-Pro bumpers and a 10k winch. I'm currently running Blistein 5100's on all 4 corners, stock springs in the rear with a 1.25" Traxda spacer and OME 2885 springs up front (2"). I know that adding the bumper and winch is going to add significant weight to the front end and I'm wondering if any of you fine knowledgeable peeps could make some suggestions as to what, if any, changes I should make to my front end to account for the extra weight. Should I be upgrading the springs? Shocks? Leave as is?

I'm trying to prevent the front end from dipping and/or taking a dive upon braking. Any and all suggestions and points of views will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all!

If I'm not mistaken, the C4 Fab bumper only weighs about 70lbs or so. Thinking of getting the same thing on mine. Post pics once you get installed.

Okay so I've been trying to decipher all the info on this thread but I keep confusing myself.... I have a 2004 4runner and currently have a Spacer lift put on directly by Toyota, I'm mad at my younger self for paying an arm and a leg for a spacer lift I could now do myself... I'd like to get some suspension lift enough to throw some 285/70/17 on it with out straying to far from the 500$ mark. Any ideas?? I have -18 offset 9" wheels so a little trimming is expected but hopefully not any modifications to the body mount.

I have 285s without rubbing. The modifications are in my signature below. Simple and cost effective as I do 98% of my driving on-road.

I've got the C4 Lo-Pro. It weighs around 75lbs, plus my winch (roughly 85lbs), you're looking at about 160lbs to add. Conveniently for you, I also run 5100s with an 885 spring in the front. The front definitely dipped down, but not a ton. Maybe about 3/4"?

I'm planning to put a 3/8" spacer on the left side, 1/4" on the right. Will fix the driver's lean, and should help regain a half inch in the front.

Yes for sure! I plan on doing the front springs at the same time as the shocks.
Was just wondering if I could leave there rear airbags while using 5100’s all the way around.

If you plan on keeping RAS you should order bilsteins 4600 for the rear. If you read ARK Swamp rider's post on the conversion he mentions about this. I will send you a link for this once I find it.

Looks clean, I'd love to get one. Only thing I'm worried about is if I add that, I'll have to replace springs in the front and that'll disconnect my XREAS (if I'm not mistaken). So until the XREAS goes out, I'll run stock. Suggestions?
