Help with Spacer lift

I tried to put a 3” front spacer lift on my 05 4Runner a few days ago. I got the everything taken apart and had the spacer on top of the strut tower but I could not get the lower control arm to drop enough to put the strut back in. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong or any way to fix this? Thanks.

Mark the alignment cams with a marker and loosen the lower control arm bolts (go slow) until it drops. If they are frozen.. cut, torch, oil.. pray.

Well I decided I’m going with the icon set up. Was going to get everything done this next week lift, rims, and tires buuuuutttt of course they are out of stock on my rims! I’m getting the scs Ray 10s but won’t be for a couple weeks now. Sooo gives me a little time to dial in exactly what I want to do. I’m not positive on the tires 275/70r17s bfgood ko2s. What do you guys think?? With the three inch lift what tire size would look best and what make??

Thanks-

Josh

I have never owned KO2s, and they look great and are crazy popular, and I'm definitely judging from the backseat here, but I avoided them specifically. It seems like people have tons of problems with them, like being completely unable to get one of their tires balanced until they just replace it. I see complaints about it for KO2s pretty often. Granted, more popular means more tires sold, which means, even if statistically less likely to have problems, you hear about the problems more often.

I'd also look at Ridge Grapplers, Wildpeaks, Discoverer STT Pros, and General Grabbers.

I’m going to look into all those right now thanks a lot!!

Question...

I bought My 08 v6 4x4 with this rough country lift already installed:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/362421215794
It is supposed to be a 3/2 lift and came with shocks for the rear. The problem is, the rear is sitting just over 2” higher with it installed. I’m guessing this is due to a sagging front suspension. Bought moog fj coils (81108) and bilstein 5100’s for the front... do you think it will sit level with the front moog’s and billy’s At 1.75” if I leave that rear spacer installed? I also have a 3/8” toytec top plate spacer to work with that I could throw in the front. Just trying to estimate as best I can... to give myself the best shot of the first install being the final one!

What are my options for LT springs in the rear? I know there's Metaltech and Toytec Superflex, but is that about it?

Metaltech (Dual Rate):
Medium: ?"
Heavy: 19.25"

Icon:
2” spring: 16.73”
3” overland spring dual rate: 17.13”

Toytec:
Superflex 2.0: 16.75"
Supeflex HD: 18"

Dobinson has some nice dual rate coils as well.

I don't know the minimum free length of coil you want so it doesn't fall out at full flex. Maybe 17-18"? I think dual rate is the way to go.

Just wanted to confirm, I am picking up a set of used 5100's this week. The rear 5100's with stock spring do not offer any lift correct?

For the front adjustables, if they are already preloaded with coil overs, do I have to compress and remove the shock to adjust the setting?

Would the no compressor method be effective in doing so?

To adjust the length of the shock you need to allow it to fully relax. Then there is a lock ring that needs to be moved to the desired level.

I did this myself on mine, before installing springs.

Either way, using old springs or buying pre-loaded you’ll need to relax the shock if you want to set the length.

Buy a cheap spring compressor, it’s worth it.

You could absolutely use the no spring compressor method. It's relatively easy and safe, which is great and why I prefer this method.

This is absolutely an option as well, however I personally don't like having my hands in the line of fire of the spring, and I just generally am not a fan of spring compressors.

Is anyone able to confirm the correct part number for front and rear 5100's for our 4th gens? I just picked up some used ones that stated for 4th gen but now I am questioning if they are the right ones.

Tire size stock rims jba uca

Anyone running 33" tires with stock rims and jba uca? I'm wanting to get new tires and want 33's but want to keep stock rims and really don't want to run spacers. Did some searching but no luck.
Thanks.

I tried, didn't work. I had to get spacers with 255's and stock rims. I will be getting the FJ steel wheels soon to get rid of them.
