Hey mjotrainbrain, did you end up getting the 5100s done? Any pics? Happy with it? I still haven't pulled the trigger because I've been traveling with work a ton. But now I'm looking at probably doing the 5100s with the front set at 1.75 and installing the rear with the existing stock springs. Would love to know how it turned out for you.

I did actually get it done, and I've been very happy with it. It sits just about level to the eye, but by the tape measure the rear wheel well is about an inch higher. In any case, the running boards and windows are level, so it looks right which is what matters to me!

Yes, FJ and 5th gen have a 15mm offset and the 4th gen has 30mm.

Ome lift question
Hey guys,
I am planning on installing the OME 2.5" lift early next year and was looking for input on the stone guards. Looking at buying the assembled struts here so i don't have to worry about builiding the front struts:

My buddy has the same kit for a 5th gen and purchased the optional stone guards for extra protection of the rear mounts. It doesn't look like an option for the 4th. Didn't know if anyone knows if they will fit or has any other feedback, if they actually add protection etc

It looks like they just clamp around the shock so I'm betting they will fit.
Since the shock shafts are on the top side on the OME shocks, I don't think the guards are necessary. They would only protect the bolt head from deforming against a rock or the rubber bushings from getting abraded (Rubber is pretty durable compared to the heim shocks), two things that aren't as big of a deal as a shock shaft getting pitted and wearing away the seals inside the shock.
But they are cheap and probably won't hurt anything.

Thanks for the feedback, that was what I was thinking. Seems like it just bolts onto the lower mount and would fit the 4th gen. Not sure how much protection it will really add but for an extra $30 seems like it would be worth it either way

I’ve been trying to get a straight answer about the lift i’m planning for my ’06 sr5 4x4 V6 (no xreas). I just bought the vehicle and it appears to have a 2.5” spacer lift on the front which i’d like to get rid of.
My plan for the front is to use OME 2884’s with Bilstein 5100’s set to 0”.
On the back I would use Bilstein 5100’s as well, with OME 2895e’s.
My goal is to get a 2.5” lift in the front and 1.5” in the back. (this would maintain a slight front rake I believe)
I’m on a tight budget so I don’t want to upgrade the UCA's.
It is my daily driver, I live in a rural area, I tow occasionally, I camp a lot and travel on rough roads, but don’t do a lot of extreme off roading.
I’m running 265/70/r17 BFG Ko2’s and plan to keep this type of tire.
What lift measurements do you think this lift will yield and do you have any further recommendations?
I am new to this sort of thing, so i’m open to suggestions.

2.5/1.5 sounds reasonable, might be a little more with the old spring sag but it will be close.
Sway bar rub
Anyone have issues with the swaybar contacting the coil spring after installing Fox 2.0s? I've seen sway bar relocating brackets for some of the higher lifts, but never saw anyone needing it for just a level...
I just finished installing these on the front, and while checking things out after setting the front back on the ground I noticed the swaybar hitting the spring on both sides.
Maybe it's just how I had the sway bar set up when I put in new bushings, and it'll settle out of the way after I drive around a bit? Am I ok for a quick drive around the block to see, or could I really mess up a shock?

How much higher than stock are you? Don't guess, measure the distance from center of hub to the bottom of the fender.

I'm planning on picking up the Stage 2 Icon suspension (tubular UCA's) for my 06 sport on the Metaltech 20% off black Friday sale coming up. I've read that I will need longer rear brake lines. Metal tech reccomended this kit for $65.

I did the FJ cruiser coils and 5100 shocks on mine and I’m really happy with it. Go through that thread and there is a lot of great information. You can do it yourself with basic tools and some YouTube videos
Where can I purchase the Fj springs ?
Craigslist or sometimes someone is selling them on this forum

I was looking to move my 6112 clip up a notch. Can i do this while still mounted vehicle or would i have to take them off and disassemble them?
I just a little confused if i do it while still mounted it just compresses the spring more and staying the same height vs disassembling it and like reset the preload

Shocks have to removed and disassembled. Do not use those cheap spring compressors you can rent. Have a shop do it correctly or you could try the "no compressor" method if you know what you're doing.
