4th Gen Trash Bag Holder

I'm not talking about hanging the bag. I'm referring to when it's not in the upright (out/pulled up)position for use with a bag.... How/where does it fasten when you push it down (folded down) out of the way?

You can't close it down when there's a bag in there.

I'm talking no bag. Just simply pushing it to the down position... shouldn't it fasten down somehow... Mine simply hanges there off the top pivots points on each side of the console... I can't close to where its fastened in... i.e. not hanging and swinging freely

Stick your head underneath there and see what is blocking. You may have to bend the hangar a tad bit to adjust it. Be careful, don't break it. But it suppose to snap in there snugly.

Yah I got down there and looked and it looked like the trash bag holder had that tab that should snap into something down there... I thought I felt where it went but it just doesn't fasten... Its almost like the tab isn't long enough to hook into the hole. It was like this when I bought it 2 weeks ago, I will try bending it or see if the hook in the hole is bent or something.

Thanks

After 5 years, I finally used the trash bag holder, but it wasn’t for trash. I bought some Wine and some 22oz beer bottles. I didn’t want to lay them down since they would be sliding / clacking all over the place. So I pulled up the trash bag holder and placed the bottles in side with the plastic bag. I was surprised to see they stayed in place . I was able to fit one Wine bottle and two 22oz beer bottles in there with no problems.

BTW - Much Thanks for the help here... I was able to fool with the metal spring like catch at the bottom and bend/pull it out so the trash bag hanger could catch on it...

I appreciate the help guys!

I just use two standard grocery plastic bags, one inside the other, then pull the handles through the little cutouts on the hanger. If you snug them up enough, the bag and frame has no gap in between it, and it'll stay until you take the bags out to throw out. I double-bag it because it keeps the spilling to a minimum (some of those bags are less than perfect), and it's a bit stronger if you have something with harder edges.

I use mine every damn day.
