4th gen zerk help

Haven't greased my zerks in awhile, so tonight I climbed under and started greasing...

When I got to the nipple that fills the front drive shaft, I gave it five squeezes (saw the driveshaft expand), and when I pulled the gun off of the fitting, greasing started streaming our for about ten seconds. I thought grease wasn't supposed to come out of a nipple like that.

Is it ok (does this happen sometimes), or is the zerk fitting a goner?

Goner is right. Get one at any parts store and replace it. It'll take less than 10 minutes and less then $10. GL
