5% Tint and getting pulled over by the Police?

hahah idk. dude just gave me three options from light med and limo. the limo is on top of factory tint of course. BIG BIG BIG difference from limo to light in front windows. I actually feel the heat now lol. Debating to go Air80 on my front windshield.

As for the police robots... It's great during the day and with heat, roll the windows down if you need to

Its called static cling film, and its impossible to just stick on and see through it without installing it like an actual film. The bubbles will make it impossible to see clearly, which just makes it more dangerous to use. If you install it with water though, it will lay down well and you'll see through it almost as good as regular film, but as soon as you remove and re-apply, you'll need to have water again. And I wouldn't use soapy water for this either, it will make it cloudy.

Is there something with suction cups and can roll up? I was thinking someone could rig something up that during the day they can have this 5% tint, and at night or during bad weather, they can just easily remove it or roll it up to make it easier to see; that is if someone is really wanting some 5% but also wants to make easier viewing at night and bad weather.

As for clear film, they do make several UV "films", they are not "tint", as they have almost no reduction in light transmission. The best film you can use on a car with the most heat reduction would be a ceramic-based UV film, such as Llumar's Air80, Suntek's 80% film, and a few other brands, I think 3M also has one, but can't find my 3M film book anywhere in my shop right now! These films have the highest heat rejection properties, and still has full UV rejection, but does not darken the windows. For the Air80 film, it looks almost identical to some of the Mercedes windows with the blue hue to their glass. Suntek's film has a green hue and isn't quite as clear as the Llumar film, but its also not nearly as expensive either.

i had 5% on my 14 limited and never had any issues with the cops, but i couldnt see shit for the life of me at night haha

I had 45% on the fronts and 35% on the rear of my Echo and never got pulled over for it and it was plenty dark to provide additional security and heat blocking. However, I did get caught up in a Drag Net raid leaving a car meet and they couldn't get me on anything else so they gave me a tint ticket.

If I do my 4Runner, it will likely be 45% all around. I figure its harder to tell your fronts are tinted if all the windows are the same reasonable tint level

Actually, there is a film that you can darken whenever you want! And, you can adjust it to wherever you're comfortable for darkness with just a rotation of a knob! Be prepared for some serious money to have installed though!!!

Smart Tint ® Smart Film ? USA Factory Direct

The black colored tint would be equal to a 45% tint, which is pretty light, and when darkened, it would be equal to 4% tint, which is amost completely blacked out. By using a dimmer in place of an on/off switch, the film can be controlled from 4% to 45%.

While their website doesn't have much for vehicles (I suspect because its ridiculously expensive), there's two cars, a boat and a plane video of the film in action. Strangely enough, they opted for the white frost film for the mustang and porsche, neat, but weird to see frosted windows on a vehicle.

I've installed this electro-film back several years ago for one of Intel's "farms" in Oregon, its was interesting material to work with and I would not suggest anyone who's not an absolute pro in auto tinting to even think about attempting this! With the cost of the film being extremely high, one mistake and you're looking at more film! And, anyone who's ever tinted cars will know, its quite easy to get dirt under the film, or make an error cutting the edge or stuffing the film down under a seal, or overheating the material when shrinking to fit the glass!
