5100 question... Help!

This may be a stupid question and I'll be honest I only searched a little, but didn't turn up an answer.

Can my 5100s on the front be adjusted from 2.5" to 1.75" without having to remove them from the spring? I know they have to be taken off the truck, but I'm assuming the spring doesn't have to be taken off the shock...

I'm dropping the front because i'm getting reverse rake with anything in the truck and especially with the ski-doo trailer in tow. I'm taking it back to the shop to get it done and don't want to be charged an arm and a leg for what should be a fairly quick fix.

The spring has to be removed from the shock to adjust.

Would be easier/cheaper to add a rear spacer or different coils.

If it is level empty, you could always add airbags to the rear springs to keep it from sagging. Would be easier and probably not a huge expense.

Don't quote me on this, but I THINK, you might be able to do it w/o removing the spring/shock completely...follow the how to antman/spaceball wrote up for installing a spacer; once you unload all the spring pressure just lower the shock enough to reach the cir-clip and then reassemble everything in reverse. I am really not sure if you will have enough room to do that with the shock still bolted to the LCA, but as long as there is no spring pressure on the seat then you can adjust it. I was already planning to attempt this if I ever need to move my cir-clips upwards

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to be at the shop with the guy who installed the shocks when he makes the changes. I wanted to get it done while he's away, but I'm just going to wait a couple weeks for him to return. I trust him to do it the quickest (and least expensive) way possible.

I considered stiffer springs in the rear, but I really love the rear height where it's at and some days I think the front looks to high, so I think this set up will do me well... Especially with the 265s.
