Neither. 4300k is best. Anything higher is blue.
4300k is what the OEM HIDs are in other cars.

As you go up in temp, you go bluer, but also lose usable light.
I have 6000k in my Camaro to match the LED foglights, and while its certainly attractive looking, you can tell the loss of light compared to the 4300k that came stock.
For the 4R, since its my daily driver, I'm going with the Phillips 4300k (Xenon Depot 35W kit), so by the time they burn in, they will be close to 5000k, which will be enough blue, while maintaining maximum light production.

this is the same direction i am going, do you (or anyone) know what "vehicle options" are required for a 2015?
the options are with CANbus, without CANbus, and 2015+ MOPAR
i'm pretty green when it comes to this stuff, being that i have a 2015 do i need the "2015+ MOPAR" option? and what is that exactly....

Just wanted to point anyone interested in saving a little $ to the fact that I'm selling my XD Philips 4300k kit, it was too bright for oncoming drivers for me to feel comfortable leaving it in.

The CANbus is a connection for cars that have sensors to tell you when the headlight is out. It is not necessary for the T4R. MOPAR is Chrysler manufacturing, which is obviously not for Toyota Cars / Trucks, and therefore also unnecessary.
The other options in the XD page are just the kelvin color temperature selection.
If you want to sell them, fine, but don't turn this into another "you're hurting other drivers with your HIDs, boo HIDs" thread.

Not my intention at all. Just don't want others to go into the mod without being as fully informed as possible. I know I wasn't, and I wish someone would've linked me the same way, that's all.

side by side my evo has osram nightbreakers i believe 4400k they appear a warm white almost yellow orange
my t4r has trs 5500k that appears as a pure white
the 5500k appears much brighter because the human eye perceives the whitish blue as brighter
instruments will show the 4400 k has more lumens or luminosity than the 5500k
night breakers also were shown to output more lumens than standard D2S bulbs
the choice is yours in the end. i actually like the 5500K due to its higher contrast and will probably convert my ego's oem HID setup to 50 watt ballasts and 6500k bulbs which will wash down about 1000K and be perfect with even more output.
everyones eyes are different.
try and find people with various color temps and see for yourself
i have both so i have a pretty good idea

I'm personally a fan of 4300k, but if you want a little more color then perhaps look at 5000k. This is a pretty good review showing the differences between stock, 4300k HID, 5000k HID, and 6000k LED:

You are talking about osram's CBIs, right? I have them in my Runner and I love them. In my Civic (also retro'd), I have the nightbreakers. Yes, in theory they throw out more lumens, but I don't like the white light my CBIs make.

Too bad it wouldn't last.
I'd love to do a 55W, but I'm not convinced they are worth it if it (apparently) affects longevity.
