5500 or 6500k HID lights

Too bad it wouldn't last.

I'd love to do a 55W, but I'm not convinced they are worth it if it (apparently) affects longevity.

I did 55w when I changed out my FXRs. Although the 460s are fantastic projectors, I doubt now that overdriving them by 15w makes much diff. I wouldn't spend the money again.
100 w. would only make sense with bulbs designed for it.

I have nightbreakers in my Evo hids. And I have morimoto 5500k h11 in my 4Runner.

You are talking about osram's CBIs, right? I have them in my Runner and I love them. In my Civic (also retro'd), I have the nightbreakers. Yes, in theory they throw out more lumens, but I don't like the white light my CBIs make.

I personally find the Philips X-treme Vision HID bulbs brighter then the CBI bulbs. The CBI bulbs have a "bluer" color then the Philips' equivalent - which I personally do not prefer.

Having owned both 4300k and 5000k true phillips made in germany HID bulbs, I would say go 4300k because after burn in the 4300k will have a blue hue. If you can get yourself some true 5000k phillips HID bulbs then get those because in my experience its not blue but more of a quasi blue/purple. I've never seen that color with these chinese 5000k bulbs, hence why I say go 4300k
