555 LBJ (SB3561) Cotter Pin Above Nut?

Personally? I'd torque it to spec, shove the cotter pin in there and call it done.
It's a safety tether, not something maintaining tension. I would avoid washers.

I wouldn't consider 555 Aftermarket as they make the part for Toyota aren't they considered oem?
Though this is the upper ball joints - the lower ball joints from 555 direct have long been known to be different (and inferior) than the OEM lower ball joints - even if 555 makes them (which we don't know for sure). Seems reasonable that the upper ball joints might be the same situation.

Just seems like a penny-wise, pound-foolish way to save $$$. The factory upper ball joints last 200k+ miles and 20 years - why risk aftermarket? (half that for lower ball joints, depending on use...)

Get different ball joints.
The cotter pin going through the castle nut is important.
The cotter pin is soft metal.
In a fight between a loose nut and cotter pin, the cotter pin will lose.
