Yup 4hi doesn't work unless I put it in 4lo first then back to 4hi. Guessing 4hi doesn't have the trigger for the actuator so I need to wire up a button or change out the 4wd ecu with a relay. But 4x4 works with lights and locker works too. So stoked.

Try shorting together pin 10 (yellow-red) and pin 6 (green-red) at the 4WD computer.

Connecting those two wires will make the 4WD ECU think you pressed the 4WD button and the transfer case immediately shifted into 4WD when you move the j-shifter to 4WD.

i will look into that! as for now i looked up the limited tcase shifter and when i click it and shift into 4hi i get 4x4. i also gotta check if i have 2lo right now while having this setup but i dont think so. id like to have no button so i dont have to worry about clicking and shifting. just happy right now everything is done!

Do you have a Multi Mode Transfer Case?
And aslo, are you throwing a Vehicle Speed Sensor Code by chance?

I did a 5speed swap recently in my 97 Limited and kept the auto ECU so now i have a slight hesitation when i hit WOT.. grrr. I have the M/T edu i just don't wanna go through the re-pin process

Need help

Hey I’m doing a similar swap myself I bought a 1997 4 runner 4x4 auto transmission without a motor it is was originally a 3.4 v6 and I’m using my 1998 Tacoma 4x4 5speed with the 2.7 3rz as a donor for the 97. I’ve already installed the 2.7 engine and the ecu with the manual harness and the 5speed trans in the 97. I repined the one plug that was different but my motor won’t start it only turns over… I’m wandering if you know if I would actually need to use the dash harness out of the 98 Tacoma as well since the 97 is as original v6
