hail totaled my 05, so looking at picking up a new 5th gen (if i can handle going from the 4.7 v8 to the 4.0 v6...this rumored SC better come out soon!).

I've searched around and havent found much of any info on the OEM JBL sub enclosure. are they that rare? i havent even seen them on ebay? i do not want the entire JBL setup, just the OEM JBL enclosure to put my polk MM 8" sub in. this gives me plenty of bass in my '05 and keeps it OEM like i like. I know there are very small aftermarket enclosures, but i would rather keep it tucked behind the plastic in the rear and not have to sacrifice any storage room in the middle of the back, as i load stuff up all the time.

any info on these enclosure as searching has pulled up nothing!

I'm interested in more info about this as well. The stock sound system is terrible.

Ive also been looking around for this. I want a sub in that compartment but haven't found any info on that enclosure. I was honestly thinking of just taking a template of the hole and making a flat piece to fit inside with a lip and seal with silicone rather than buying some overpriced piece of plastic

thanks for that, but it still sticks out. i like the OEM JBL as it does not cause one to loose any cargo space (no, i do not consider the cubby cargo space!). plus, $1600, really?!! i want a $50 enclosure!

I have looked for an enclosure before I did my speaker upgrades... Came up short. Would be interested if anyone has found anything with a reasonable price...

I had a hell of a time finding one, they're on ebay for $450 from time to time. I added a stock JBL subwoofer box to my 08 4Runner, planning to do the same in my 17.

Well you've piqued our interest... Let me see if we can't come up with something to offer. Would you guys prefer a loaded enclosure or a BYOS (bring your own sub) enclosure?

Just wanted to update this thread. I got my hands on a JBL enclosure and modified it to fit an 8" JL 8w3v3 and it sounds amazing!

And mounted it in the stock location

Had to remove the pocket

Fits nicely, even added a JL grille to help protect the dust cover

BlackAck's 5th Gen 4Runner thread

This looks like the part # for the OEM sub enclosure 86150-35080. I’m not sure if it comes with a speaker but the pics (simple line drawing) online at a few dealer part sites looks like the enclosure.

Do you know if it would fit in a 2 row model? Looks like you have 3 rows so the interior trim is different but it’s probably the same underneath the trim?

not a bad enclosure for $169. :faint: i think it fits for both 2 or 3 row runners as i only see one part number :) the lower quarter trim for non-third row for this enclosure ~ $300.

Right, there's only the one part #. So it probably fits. Maybe i'll take a shot - would try to use the current 2-row OEM trim though.

Just have to figure out how to remove the trim, and decide an an amp and sub combo!
