5th Gen 4runner???

I am sure somebody will find a picture of the 5th gen 4Runner in advance. It seems that there were pictures of the new Land Cruiser and LX way in advance.

Now, if anybody from Toyota is reading this, a 5.7L Tundra engine in the 4Runner would be a nice feature!

Hopefully by then the 5.7 V8 will be a gem. There are 20 cases of broken camshafts with the 5.7. The bright side is Toyota is being proactive about this one and replacing the entire engine.

In a couple of years gas could (will?) be $5/gallon on the low side and that alone will affect a lot of decisions concerning the final product.

Do you guys think anyone at Toyota visits this sight, or others like it to get an idea about what their core market looks like? Also to find out what direction to go with a redesign.

I don't know if they read the site for research, but they know the forums are out there based on this article.

Toyota definitely is having some quality issues with some of their major products. Over at Lexus, the ES350 has transmission problems that they are trying to resolve. Maybe Toyota is growing too fast and stretching their engineering, design, and quality resources.

Toyota knew about the problem in Feb as they were launching. They only fessed up this week. Toyota does not have a history of stepping up to address issues unless they're backed into a corner.

Hopefully Toyota will be even more cautious during introductions in the future. Don't expect them to rush future vehicle introductions, including the next 4Runner.

The first year gen 4 V6 4Runner took quite a hit in the Consumer Reports ratings for a much less serious issue.
This problem with the 5.7L Tundra will hurt Toyota, especially since the media's eyes have been focused on the company due it's recent milestones.

Every single auto manufacturer runs into problems. It's Toyota's reputation of building quality, reliable vehicles that will bring so much attention to any issue like this.
