5th gen 6in lift. How it's done and which lift to use.

So I've had my 3in Toytec coil over lift with bilstein coil shocks for about a year and was wondering if anyone out here has installed this 6in suspension lift from the fj cruiser that I see pics of but no build threads. I'm trying to get a price list together for myself so I will know what I'm gonna need. Any help would be appreciated. Oh by the way I have a 2015 sr5 premium 4wd.

RSG offroad in Colorado has a 5th gen with a 6 inch Fabtech kit on it, they may be able to help you. Their 5th gen is pretty tall but looks really good.

Here's rsg t4r w 6in lift. Next to my stock one. It has fox suspension and i think bsd kit.

I wonder exactly how much modification is really needed. Most suspension components seem to swap seamlessly from FJ to 4Runner and vice versa.

If I had to make a random guess I'd look to something along the lines of rear link mount relocation brackets. If you tried to use the same link mounts the angles would be horrific and the ride quality would be terrible. The FJ cruiser frame is not identical in the rear even though the suspension is. I assume relocating the link mounts is required and I'd guess that's where the problem is. But that's just a guess.

Well from what I saw in person on a 4th gen 4Runner, the steering rack inner tie rods are somewhat different on the FJ Cruiser and seem to have a bit better vertical angles (but it seems to affect their turning radius as my friend's FJ Cruiser has a wider radius than my 4th gen running 35's). Additionally that member had to install custom bumpstops both for up and down travel due to some parts he still needed to prevent damaging the drivetrain (i.e. CV Axles, Tie Rods, ect.)

There's small differences that need to be accounted for as the FJ Cruiser has a more stunted frame than the 4th gen/5th gen.

I'd have to double check next time I have one on a lift, but the rear mounting locations on the FJ Cruiser vs. the 4th/5th gens is slightly different. I found this out when I inherited some '14 FJ Cruiser lower trailing arms that I reinforced for the 4th gen. They are the same length as the 4th gen/5th gen lower trailing arms, but the mounting points are pushed a bit further up the frame than the 4th/5th gens. So while the links and suspension should be similar, the mounting locations that the brackets have to bolt to might need some minor modifications.

Unless you're trying to fit 35's without trimming (which to be honest is rather counter-intuitive since you'd require a lot of modification to get the FJ Kit to mount as it's not 100% bolt-up) or just trying to fit larger than 35's a 6" drop-bracket kit won't do much for you in terms of performance/capability. What are your goals with the vehicle build? Functional or Fashionable?

Thanks for the replies. I would like to fit a bigger tire underneath. Right now I have 285/70/17, spidertraxx 1.25 spacers, fuel wheels with -10mm offset and body mount chop.

I talked to RSG about it and for a non KDSS this is what I got:

The modified Fabtech 6" system with FOX coil-overs and 2.0 remote reservoir rear shocks is $7,800 installed.

6" fab tech w fox.
