I have a 5th gen buddy getting rid of an unused never installed Flowmaster Part #: 817569 Cat-back System 409S -Force II

Has anyone done this or seen this done? Couldn't find anything on the search function. Are the exhaust systems completely different? Slightly Compatible? I have a local exhaust guy that can work wonders but not miracles… has anyone seen a big block 70 series Delta flow on a 4th GEN? That's what this cat back system utilizes for a muffler.

it probably won't be a direct fit. hangers are in different spots and the wheelbases are different. but with a little modification it may work
 
Almost anything will fit with a little modification! If you get it cheap enough, you can have your exhaust guy use what he can and scrap the rest. Of nothing else, just swap the muffler itself out

Thanks for the input. Your right, prob should just go for it. It's a $500 system I can get for $50. I think I'll jump on it. My only concern is the big block 70. Never heard it on the 4th gen v6. I presume it'll be similar to the super 50 SUV model. I like a low moderate sound.

From what I've heard, the 70 series is the least aggressive sounding flowmaster muffler. For $50, you really can't beat it! I'd definitely get it for that!

I just picked the cat back up from my buddy. I haven't really had time to look at it since it's raining here but it looks very doable. I'm excited to talk to my exhaust buddy and see what he thinks. Here's a pic. I'll have to give you an update when I have it installed. Really curious to see how it sounds. I am not going for the hey look at me I'd like to be a V-8 sound but I'd also like to hear a little bit more engine/throttle response when I'm accelerating without any drone. We will see.

aftermarket exhausts on the 4.0 v6 sound pretty good, not ricey at all. my gibson on my v6 is much throatier and has a bit of rumble at low rpm i wasnt expecting

I had the Flowmaster cat-back exhaust installed today and it sounds freakin awesome! I was really concerned about the 70 series FM because I've never really heard one on the V6 in person.
My short review so far: It sounds almost stock at idle but really has a nice refined deep throaty bellow in the lower RPMs during normal acceleration. Way better than the the FM 40 that I had on my 08 Taco. It had too much drone/ricey sound for my taste (no offense to any one). The 70 series FM is comparable to the Super 50 series SUV muffler.
If anyone's interested it's the Flowmaster 70 series big block with delta flow.

The installation was no problem for my local muffler shop with a few tweaks. You could probably replicate a similar sound with just installing the FlowMaster 70 big block muffler (More cost effective) instead of the entire cat back exhaust.
-Just in case anyone's curious, other intake/exhaust modifications that I have on my truck include a K&N drop in air filter, hydrocarbon filter delete. (Not much impact if any on the sound) I also had them dump the exhaust tip out the passenger side behind the tire (Just a personal preference). Total cost of install was $130.00 with side exit exhaust tip mod.
Just note, this is done on my iPhone camera and is not the very best sound quality. It doesn't sound as raspy and high pitch in the higher rpm's as it seems in the video. However, no exhaust modification will make your V6 sound like a V-8. Just trade yours in for a V8 if a V8 sound is your goal. LOL! BTW, I would love to hear this FM 70 on the 4.7L V8. I would sound amazing IMHO.

Great to hear man! Careful, I just got my first speeding ticket because I was listening to the throttle response instead of watching my speedometer. Lol! Having the audible response makes it really tempting to play with the throttle/Exceleration a bit more these days. Enjoy!
