5th Gen fog light bulb removal

I have searched and read many posts about fog light upgrades but still have a question. I am able to reach the rear of the housing from the top of the engine compartment but I cannot get the bulb out. I easily changed the DRL bulbs but cannot get the bulbs out of the fog light housing. Does the housing itself need to be removed/opened to access the bulb or can I just remove the bulb straight out of the rear?

the bulb can be removed. it should just turn to release.

It took me a sec the other day to figure out how the plug in the back worked, but once you depress the plug and remove it, you just need to twist the back of the bulb whichever direction in the housing and then remove. Easy-peasy.
