5th Gen HID / Projector retrofit installation (pics).

I put the HIDs in the stock housing - I guess that is the difference, huh? I am sure they don't work as well as the ones mentioned here, but they were quite good, I thought. WAY better than stock lighting! Mine did have a shroud, though.

OK, got it. What is the purpose of the shroud?

Depending on the projector you use, it could be just cosmetics or it could be blocking off stray light exiting the sides of the projector (and reflecting off the headlight's reflector bowl). But basically, you're probably going to want a shroud to give it a more finished look regardless of whatever projector you are using.

It's really not a dispute of how well they light up the road, it's more about you possibly blinding others due to glare (because the factory reflectors are never going to control the cutoff as well as a projector made specifically for an HID capsule).

Of course it's going to be way better than a stock halogen light bulb, you're probably at least doubling the lumens! But that's also at least double the amount of glare into on coming drivers eyes

Friends don't let friend drive with HID capsules in OEM reflector housings :cheers:

Not sure how bad mine were - got flashed occasionally, but not all the time or anything.

Anyone with a 2010-13 4runner running the panamera shroud? If so please share how you wired the white / amber wires. Ideally i'm thinking about hooking up a manual switch inside the cabin to turn on the white LED so that the factory DRL remain as is. This will also reduce the burn time of the shroud's LED. For the amber wire, I was informed that if the signal function is not desired, just don't connect those.
