Any way of locking the top slider? Thinking the under compartment would be a good gun safe if it can be secured.

When I purchased mine I checked that $350 box for the cargo tray, but then the dealership called me back to tell me that it is $350 only if it is already installed in the vehicle from the factory. They told me that it couldn't be added as an option after the fact, so I got refunded the money and went in search of a used one which I ended up getting for less anyway. Buying the parts new individually is just a ridiculous way to go from a price standpoint, so finding a take off from someone within driving distance is really the only practical way to go since they are bulky and would be a hassle to ship. I'm curious how your experience went.

Thanks for the response. The dealer swore up and down it was the slide out tray. When I got there, it was just some rolled up plastic piece. It was a large dealer but they were unaware of what it was I wanted. Surprising, but also, not. Thanks for the tip. I will look for a used one, especially if the deals to be had are better than $350.

I actually think it is a fair option for $350 IF it is already in the vehicle you want. Some just don't want it or need it and it came in the vehicle they purchased, creating a somewhat thriving swap market on here. In general, however, there seem to be more looking to add than to subtract, so price is dependent on where you are and if you can find one in driving distance. I think I paid $200 and had to drive 5 hours r/t to pick it up. The seller had had it sitting around for a couple of years, although I don't think he was actively trying to sell it. Install only takes an hour or so with or without the specific carpet underpinnings that would come with it stock.

I've found it to be useful in several different situations, but my main complaint is that stuff on the tray will fall into the opening when you pull it out. Also, I wish there were tie downs on the tray itself. I'm sure some clever T4.org user has figured out a solution to both, but I'm still mulling over ways I could improve it.

More good information. Thank you. I wish Toyota offered in 2019 vehicles, I'd have taken it and not had to try to find one second hand. 5 hours?? Thats dedication. I mostly just want it to sit on haha

I was looking at it today, and I actually think you could lock it by drilling a hole through the latch lever and tray itself big enough to run a cable or padlock through it to hold it in the locked (left) position. It wouldn’t be super secure by any means, but it would slow someone down considerable from smashing and grabbing.

Toyota has a cargo divider accessory that clips on the back of the sliding tray to keep stuff from moving back and falling when you pull the tray out.

Amazon will say it doesn't fit '16 and up, but it will fit '10-'15, but toyota parts says it fits all the way to '19, as the slider hasn't changed.

Yea, if you much more than grocery bags, it's probably useless.

I don't pull my slider out very often, so I never have anything fall back there.

Wonder if you could buy just the HF tool tray, and not the tools.
I'll have to check it out.
Maybe buy it and give the tools to my daughter and her boy friend and keep the tray for myself.

Just purchased a 2020 TRD Pro which sadly didn't come with the tray. Asked the dealer what it would cost to put one in and they priced the parts and install at $2500. Based on this particular thread that sounds insane, but looking for a sanity check.

It’s not insane as that’s the cost of all the components separately, which is why it’s better to get it as a port installed option. Your best bet is to do what the rest of us are doing. Search desperately for someone giving up a tray and hope you’re the first to send a PM.

The trays are definitely a love-hate thing, and even if someone is on the love side of things they will be selling it if they install drawers. Be patient and one will turn up eventually. It really makes no sense to pay the part-by-part price for one. For that kind of money you can get an aftermarket drawer or tray upgrade that is far superior.

I might sell mine eventually, waiting to see how much dog hair I have to clean out of the rails on a regular basis...that was the main reason I didn't want it initially but it was an option on the only available 2020 AG TRD Pro in my area so I got it anyways.

Has anyone replaced the sliding cargo tray with just the factory/stock floor?

I got rid of my cargo tray a few years ago when I installed Goose Gear drawers, but now I’m going to be selling my truck, and am getting some things back to stock. Given how hard it is to find a sliding cargo tray, I’m fine just putting in the stock flooring. That said, I can’t even find the part number yet for the regular flooring, or even what I need!
