5th gen suspension in a 3rd gen 4Runner

I am currently running 5th gen rear shocks and springs in my 1999 sr5, I have heard that at max flex the springs will fall out, so my question is: should I put spacers in to take up the spare droop and gain some ride hight or should i instal limiting straps instead. I am not opposed to doing both, let me know what you think.

Your rear shocks are also too long - they will bottom before bump stops hit. If you want more ride height, go for spacers. A set of rear OME (or similar) springs of the right length/height will also work and not cost very much.

Im not doing crazy off road stuff and trails with it, as its pretty worn out. im just trying to keep it on the road for as little money as posible. the 5th gen shocks and springs were 100$ cad used so they were the cheapest option. im just trying to no premeturly wear these shocks out, as well as not have the springs fall out.

so from what you said you would recomend spacers?

i aslso need ideas for a lift on the front, i have a mathching set of 5thgen front shocks, but the strut is too long to fit, but ive heard that puting the spring on 3rd gen front shocks will get you a equal lift to the same set up on the rear?

so if i did this and used spacers what size of spacer should i get?

- thanks
