85 celica gts 22re enging in my 87 4runner...need help

hi im a newbie. im looking for advice...i have an 85 celica gts with the 22re that ran great...i bought an 87 4runner with a blown 22re...i had the motors swapped..put the motor from the celica in the 4runner..now the 4runner is running really bad..has a bad miss and cant set the timming correctly...also using a lot of fuel...is there something else we needed to do...can we make this swap or do we need to change the injectors or fuel rail or something..thanks rodney

Did you have to swap things between them? etc

As long as you also swapped everything else along with the motor and hooked it all up correctly the same as before it should run the same as before. If not then you missed something or don't have it all connected correctly. If you tried to keep the same electrical and emissions controls then it's not likely to work too well since they are not going to be comparable from one year to the next.

said they used the engine and exhaust manifold off the gts but kept the intake manifold throttle sensor and the map sensorfrom the 4runner... the fuel rail, injectors, and distributor, cap rotor and wires are from the gts...the coil and ignitor are from the 4runner...it is missing really bad and is getting bout 12 miles to the gallon...any ideas greatly appreciated..
